For many, positioning costs to DRW would make this somewhat unviable. Something to keep in mind before going full tilt.
Exactly the reason I'm hesitant to jump on this.

J. At $1843 for 640SCs it works out at $2.88 per SC.

Can do it with no accommodation arriving at AKL at 0515 hours and departing at 1915 hours. Stop over in MEL for a night in my own bed and off to DRW the next day.

$1843 for a status / mileage run. Ouch !

Suppose it’s small potatoes for some on here. At what point does the cost of chasing status outweigh the benefits ? I guess it’s different for everyone.

We did the math last year and decided it wasnt worth it. WP is nice but SG is just fine when your upcoming flights are in F and J.

Do comfort seats get double SC too?

Yes, I’m pretty sure they do but @samh004 is the resident expert on this subject

In theory they should, but I'm not sure I recall anyone having tried this.

The theory is sound. My run with comfort seats ended a long time ago, where I regularly received under $3.75/SC in regional QLD.

Doesn't sound too good compared to the flights I booked on Monday (a collection of different ones) that came in at $1.06/SC... however that's not the true value, as I am points rich ;)

A comment made somewhere highlighted a problem with DSC and inflated QF prices on popular legs for this week. I am looking to fly to Europe in late June for holidays. Now if I search for QF flights the cheapest ADL- LHR is around $8,800 J class (operated by Emirates) and the ADL-PER-LHR is an amazing $13,700. I can get there for $5500 with Star Alliance or $6500 with CX. The issue here is the price QF are charging. Over inflated for this week as people scramble for DSC. When do you draw the line at cost v benefit.

Status Bonus? Earlier Access to Awards? ... and for WP, First Lounge access when flying a route without any First Cabin.
irrops. When something goes pear shaped, everyone is equal but some are more equal than others.

I agree with you. That journey yields 640 SCs for $8,800. Well double up 1280... so that’s $4,400 compared to the below

While the AKL-DRW run has gone, it could be worthwhile to look at DRW-AKL in J. At $1843 for 640SCs it works out at $2.88 per SC.

And email received the booking period has been extended until 25 February.

Decreasing airfares will more than likely have a better effect on forward sales? Just a thought that could be escaping Qantas executives right now.

Seems like they're treating DSC promos as a sugar hit, but it looks like it's not having the same effect as a year ago. Maybe having better sales would, agreed.

But they have to do the sell it cheap later anyway, this marketing ploy is about SCs, not price. Myself, I would prefer to wait for the "Double points" at the moment as I can't justify WP and LTG already provides the other perks.

Slightly OT, but in the US QF's current pitch is "Buy one, get one half price".
