mine says ive registered successfully but i had a 50% offer in january, so I have no idea if it will work.

Interesting. Will have to check when my 50% came through. I know it was late last year, but it depends- are they talking about when it was offered (which I think was about October?) or when it was active? (I think it was for flights up to about the 5th Jan...)

Edit: The wording is specifically
You are ineligible to earn the bonus Status Credits from this offer if you have received a bonus Status Credit or a Status Accelerator offer from Qantas in the last 180-days.

I read that as the time the offer was made, not the time the offer expires, so I think I should be alright!

I had one in December but I've got a registration screen saying I am successfully registered and an email confirming it so I can't see how they can deny it now. On neither of those things is this condition mentioned!?

Except on the main page where the terms and conditions are listed in the important information section. ...

I cannot remember when I last received a SC offer. Maybe December. Maybe earlier.

But seriously Qantas! Why would you deny a double SC bonus for someone that has been able to register? Why not deny them at time of registration? Makes too much sense?

Are they likely to do another one of these in 2-3 months?

I could so use one of these for June-July travel next year.

Already booked my travel for this year.

I dont recall getting a SC offer recently only points.
The only one i recall is the AQUIRE offer but i dont think that counts and i didnt end up using it anyway

I'm hoping Aquire doesn't count.

This is the only general double SC offer that I can recall. I feel that 2 in 2-3 months is highly unlikely. But never say never.

I just got a 50% SC offer 2 days ago and I registered for that. The booking period for that finishes 2nd May whereas this one finishes 4th May. Travel period for that one finishes end of August whereas this one goes until 2017.

I am just wondering about the following scenarios:
1) what if I wait until after 2nd May and register for this offer and then book for travel before end of August (same travel period as 50% SC offer but not meeting the booking window), will I get double SC?
2) what if I register for this one right now and book for travel after August. Since the travel period does not match the 50% SC offer, will I get double SC?
3) or do I need to make sure I don't satisfy both the booking and travel windows to be eligible for this offer?

Many thanks for your advice in advance.

I think you'll be in trouble at the first huddle, assuming your 50% offer was from Qantas.

I really dont get what the issue is about having received an offer previously, either QF want you to book more flights or they don't

Perhaps they are concerned too many fliers will get too many bonus SCs and there will be too many SG and WPs earning their status from bonus SCs.

Almost certainly better chances of winning first division lotto.

The forward booking issue which caused the QAN share price to drop last week must be serious.

I do not think DSC promotions actually generate any more bookings overall, they just bring them 'onto the books' earlier.

I think you may be out of luck with this one... Not only would you be discounted under:

You are ineligible to earn the bonus Status Credits from this offer if you have received a bonus Status Credit or a Status Accelerator offer from Qantas in the last 180-days.

But also:

If you qualify for multiple offers, the offer first-registered for will be applied to each individual qualifying segment.

It certainly doesn't appear to make a lot of sense to, on the one hand, stimulate sales in the short term (on the back of the poor results and cutbacks announced) yet to deny those who have had a recent offer which seems counter-productive to the apparent aim of a promo like this...

... unless the idea is to try and be more fair to those who haven't had a targeted offer recently. Remember we just had the double points offer a month or so back

(and also note the fine print of multiple offers applying to a booking)

It is puzzling, because if they didn't want "status coughs" to cheaply add to the elite pool, then they wouldn't offer such a deal - yet it seems exclusing previous offer recipients, they're saying just that "you had one, you probably used it.. not for this one!"

and yet to the casual flyr, this offer will mean almost nothing. Your 2-3 x a year flyer between SYD-BNE to visit family won't suddenly make Silver or Gold on the basis of this so won't care or make extra effort to book.

I honestly think the intent is to be "fair" (but not simpler) :D but it's hard to know for sure obviously.

it does seem these promotions are becoming more specialised (eg: QF #/metal) so would exclude, for example TT codes on EK

As for why they would allow you to register even if you had an offer?

It's "register" for the offer, as in show intent, or register to receive it - it doesn't mean QF has to give it to you if you fail one of the conditions. Now sure, in real time you'd think they could easily check your account re an offer in the past 180 days, but I suspect the back end processing handles all that (as in a FF# doesn't simply have some sort of flag applied to it for an offer or similar so this stuff has to be checked by a long batch process in the background).

After all when the page says register and that you've registered successfully it doesn't actually suggest you WILL get the SC's. Seems to me you could register, then fly QF/JQ codeshares and not receive the offer due to the T&C - it seems similar with the SC offer condition.

my 2 cents anyway :)
