QF Double Status Credits (SC) offer for all :)

Great offer! Back to the amount I would have been earning on most work flights before 'simpler and fairer'!

I have just spoken with QFF and confirmed several things about this promo.

I have not received the email only found this when looking at an existing booking online. I reviewed the T and Cs and registered under the belief I would be eligible, received confirmation email. Having read this post I contacted QFF and found the following.

1) The staff were not aware of or familiar with this promotion.

2) I was assured by several people that I would Definitely get the double status credits even after informing them of the fact that I had received an offer earlier in the year and it appeared there was a restriction around 180 days and could they confirm I would be eligible still. I was assured I would be.
3) Transferred to a senior person who initially agreed and confirmed I was eligible based on the terms and conditions he could see on the site and the confirmation email. Pushed harder and asked for that in writing. Eventually he found in separate conditions in the invite email, that I havent received, re the 180 days. He then investigated further and finally came back and confirmed that I would NOT be eligible based on an even earlier offer in November that I had not taken up. He too was concerned that the web and subsequent emails were indeed very misleading.

In summary

1) Existing registered current 50% offers etc would mean that you would be ineligible for this promo if the offer period was with in the same dates as this current promo for bookings to be made.

2) ANY ONE who has had a bonus status credit offer with in the last 180 days are DEFINITELY not eligible for this promotion.

Rather disappointed to say the least.

Thanks for the hard legwork Ansett

now it gets very confusing that the 180 day stipulation seems to magically been removed.

You may need to go through this all again

another confusing mess by QF whichever way you look at it :(

(and it's criminal IMHO that one part of QFF seems to have launched this huge promo offer yet the staff had not been briefed prior to the launch.. really?)

This is a great deal. It's a shame I don't have any flights that need to be booked at the moment!

Can RedRoo confirm what the story is with the 180 day condition?
It doesnt appear at all in the terms on the QF website:

You must be a Qantas Frequent Flyer member to earn or redeem Qantas Points. Membership and the earning and redemption of Qantas Points are subject to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program Terms and Conditions.
~ The double Status Credits offer is valid when you register and make a new booking on an Eligible Flight. An Eligible Flight for the purpose of this promotion means any Qantas operated flight with a QF flight number on the ticket where Status Credits are normally earned, or the following Qantas marketed flights with a QF flight number on the ticket: American Airlines operated flights on the following routes; Sydney to Los Angeles (QF309), Los Angeles to Sydney (QF310), Auckland to Los Angeles (QF3225) and Los Angeles to Auckland (QF3226). New flight bookings must be made between 12.01am (AEST) 28 Apr 2016 and 11.59pm (AEST) 4 May 2016, for travel between 28 Apr 2016 and 16 Apr 2017. Double Status Credits may not be earned on some fare types and booking classes including Classic Flight Rewards and any flight with a QF flight number on the ticket which is not operated by Qantas including Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, Valuair, Jetstar Japan, Jetstar Pacific and other partner airlines. See the Airline Earning Tables for details. You must register and book an eligible flight by 11.59pm (AEST) 4 May 2016 to be eligible for this offer. Your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number must be recorded at the time of registration and booking to earn bonus Status Credits. Qantas may extend or withdraw the offer. Each passenger in the same booking must register to qualify for this bonus offer. Flights are subject to availability and any applicable fare conditions. Flights can be booked via qantas.com, a travel agent or Qantas Contact Centres. Fees may apply. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other bonus offer by Qantas. Only one double Status Credits offer can be used per individual qualifying segment of your itinerary. However, double Status Credits may be earned on multiple eligible flight bookings if you book and travel within the promotional dates as listed above. If you qualify for multiple offers, the offer first-registered for will be applied to each individual qualifying segment. Full or part travel of an itinerary is eligible only if you book and travel within the promotional dates as listed above. If you change or cancel your initial qualifying booking and/or travel is completed outside the promotional period, this bonus offer will not apply. Bonus Status Credits may take up to 6 weeks after completion of your travel to be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.
^ Qantas offers Economy and Business fares on selected Australian domestic flights and Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First on selected international flights. Flights can be booked via qantas.com, a travel agent or Qantas Contact Centres. Fees may apply.
# Qantas Points and Status Credits (where applicable) are earned on Eligible Flights with that airline's flight number on your ticket. Qantas Points and Status Credits may not be earned on some fare types and booking classes. See terms and conditions and the Airline Earning Tables for details on the conditions for the applicable airline.

Yes, it doesn't appear now but when the page was put up initially it absolutely WAS there.

hence confusion reigns.

Anyone have a good SC run that i can do in a Day from SYD?
Thinking SYD to CNS in J via BNE or something. Dont know better ones.

How to capitalise on this once in a blue moon event..

To make it more confusing i just got an email with the wording "You are ineligible to earn the bonus Status Credits from this offer if you have received a bonus Status Credit or a Status Accelerator offer from Qantas in the last 180-days."

This is a great deal. It's a shame I don't have any flights that need to be booked at the moment!
I don't either but looking to lock in SYD-BNE-HKG and return for February 2017. I actually need to be in CNX but ~$860 for 160 SCs is a huge bonus and one less status run needed later.

I'd say current terms apply; you cant hold someone to a condition that doesnt exist (even if it did exist briefly).

I couldn't have asked for better timing!

Just arranged to travel with a few mates in June/July and was planning on booking flights in the next day or so.

Will be flying Melbourne to London, then back to Melbourne from Lisbon.

Have also been thinking of organizing a work trip to Perth over the next month or so...this makes that decision a little easier as well. ;)

Thanks for posting!!

Can RedRoo confirm what the story is with the 180 day condition?
It's no longer in the terms and conditions. I would say Red Roo had someting to do with that change behind the sdenes after reading this thread.

I registered online via the homepage link, received my confirmation of registration email, and then 20 minutes later got the promotion email saying "You are ineligible to earn the bonus Status Credits from this offer if you have received a bonus Status Credit or a Status Accelerator offer from Qantas in the last 180-days.".

I believe I would have a good case arguing that shouldn't apply as when I registered for the promotion, this condition was not present.

RedRoo, it would be great if you could clarify please. If different circumstances exist, so be it, but we'd like to know before rushing to make bookings :)

Does anyone have experience with changing a date down the track - I am guessing from the Ts and Cs if you were to move a flight date you would then be ineligible? Just for that leg or entire trip?

Anyone actually done this?

I'm slightly confused by this talk of an email and ringing people. There is a banner advertisement on the Qantas website for this offer. It is a general offer to all. I'm not sure why there is any suggestion of a targeted email. Not sure why we need to ring to confirm anything when the T&Cs are clearly listed. This offer was only released overnight/this morning. I'm not sure why there is a problem with qantas expecting people to be able to read the T&Cs for themselves.

I'll be registering on the basis of the conditions when I finally get a chance to look into the details. Currently very busy getting ready for an impending international conference.

Or, cancelling existing booking and re-booking same fare?

I just booked J through Asia on Saturday. Should I ring and try and re-book?
What would you recommend asking the operator to do?

Cheers

You'd probably need to be careful to make a completely new booking if cancelling. A credit voucher is likely to retain the original booking date and hence be ineligible for the bonus.

Changing a leg is unlikely to change the original booking date listed on your booking reference.

Hi,

I will be reaching SG for the first time in mid-July with a year ending 30 Sep.

My current bookings are 520/540 SCs away from getting WP (not sure what class of economy I would get for a MEL - SYD leg of MEL - SYD - SFO booking in Premium Economy)

Now that this double SC offer has come around I'm thinking of doing a status run.

Would I be better off trying to get WP for this year with a soft drop to SG or would I be better doing a status run in October to get a head start on retaining SG?

If you get to WP before 30 Sep 16 you will stay WP until 30 Sep 17 (at least) and thus would have SG until (at least) 30 Sep 18.

Whether WP is worth the cost of a status run for 540 SCs is up to you, seeing you already get lounge access as SG.
