Was actually discussed at length on Fri morning on Sqawk Box on CNBC - they interviewed Joyce and AA Pres whoever he is - several other routes were also discussed but didn't really follow it.

PER people struggle to make the short Asia hops work. Why would this route be a success?
I guess some people have more time than meI don't read all the threads, I had to wait until I lunched with someone who knew.

All the confirmed QF 787 orders are set to replace a number of 747s. They'll be replacing 747s on HKG, HND, SFO, YVR, LAX and JFK before they start new routes.
