Can you apply for ORC if the passenger initiates the change?
I can move route via Sydney, but that’s a B737 instead of an A330. Perhaps nearer the time the aircraft might be changed due to avoiding Melbourne. I don’t like paying J only to fly premium economy. Nevertheless, I’m doing this route for the DSC, not the comfort factor.

My post was more that a customer initiated change won’t allow them to claim ORC ( as in Original Routing Credit 😊)

If the WA/VIC border is closed there’s a 95% chance the PER-MEL flight will be cancelled and then ORC would apply. I wasn’t suggesting a preemptive customer Initiated change.

I realised that: I just followed on using your post to have my dig at the B373 J class. Probably should have posted fresh. 😁

Oh @Port Power, then you left yourself open with the B373  @RooFlyer might have a field day ;)

I'd go with waiting for Qantas to advise you of cancellation (if any), as MEL's lockdown might be over by flight date?

Interestingly, I had connecting flights (same day, both U class) and one has posted DSC but the other didn't!

I used a flight credit for the DSC offer, which was specifically permitted. DSC have not yet posted for a flight on 18 June and another yesterday. so, my hive mind, how long do I wait to call about this? Does it sort out after a few more days, or do I need to call them?

From my experience, if the DSC don't post the following evening (usually around 8pm) then they won't ever post. But if you ring up they'll say it "takes up to 6 weeks" (per T&C). So ring in 6 weeks.

IIRC from a previous promotion, the bonus SC weren’t applied for some time after the relevant flights. Not sure exactly how long, but some weeks later. So yes, wait 4-6 weeks before ringing.

My bonus SC were credit 2-3 days after the flight, depending on if there is weekend in between.

Thanks to @rekeno, @Port Power and @aus_flyer for your advice. I love that about this forum. I'll check again tomorrow (there was a weekend involved) and I have also made a diary note for 6 weeks from now to follow up.
UPDATE:
My DSC flight was on Tuesday and the SC were in my account when I looked Wednesday morning (yesterday).

I’ve looked just now, and the bonus SC are in my account.

Based on that, ring now and not wait six weeks.

I made a DSC booking off the late May offer, and of course now a Sydney lockout has buggered it. If I turn it into a voucher does it retain its DSC status? I think that used to be the case.

Also wary because a previous DSC booking that I vouchered fell into a black hole and wound up being resurrected with a new PNR, fell into a black hole again and was refunded months later. Have your voucher conversion experiences been trouble free?

cheers skip

Did your SC posted since your post? Did you end up calling or are you waiting the 6 weeks?.

I had 3 flights last week end, still waiting for DSC for 2 of them. The first 2 were award J connecting, so on the same booking and weirdly I got the dsc for the second leg. The third flight was return direct and paid via amex travel voucher, no dsc yet. I ll have to put a reminder for 6 weeks...
