QF email problems

I have always found the QF booking confirmation emails to be slow to arrive. By comparison, Virgin Blue emails arrive in under 60 seconds of payment confirmation.

I just booked some tickets online for my two Melbourne-based staff to fly MEL-SYD on DJ and return SYD-MEL on QF. I setup both flights on seperate tabs in IE and confirmed the QF flight first at 3:07pm and the Virgin flight a few seconds later.

I received the email confirmation from Virgin Blue at 3:09pm. At 4:15pm I still had nothing from QF.

So I phoned QFF and the helpful person retrieved the booking, checked my email address against the one in the booking, confirmed it was all OK, and then sent the text version of the e-tickets. These arrived in seconds while we talked on the phone.

I asked why the regular emails had not arrived (and that they have always been quite slow to arrvie). She advised that the emails come from a server in Germany and that they seem to be having an increasing number of problems with emails never arriving, but that the text ones they manually initiate always go through in seconds.

Is anyone else having this problem with QF? Seems crazy!

Yes, I booked 4 flights on Monday and didn't get emails for any of them.

I had the same problem a couple of months ago. The booking showed up on 'your bookings' and I had a PNR so didn't bother following it up.
The flights have been and gone and the email never did arrive.

Same here, made 2 seperate bookings last weekend.
Confirmation emails have not arrived.

I've had one issue like this in the last month (out of 6); easy enough to use www.checkmytrip.com to check for ticketing (also has a print facility).

The crux of the matter is the 081-... ticket number, get that and your basically home and hosed.

2 x SYD-MEL-SYD flights over the past 2 weeks and no email confirmation or tax invoice recieved...

After ringing QF a text duplicate invoice was emailed to the same email address on file as per what is on my profile...

The confirmation side of things dont matter as I can just look up the booking online, but when you want work to pay for the flights, the tax invoice is kind of needed...

Previously I have never had a problem with this.

I made two bookings last night, and got the emails within half an hour (although the second booking came first). In the past, however, it has varied up to two weeks.

I have not received an eticket for an award redemption I booked online on QF 5 hours ago:(

Generally I receive an email within 4 -6 hours of a booking.

I work with a mining company and travel extensively in Australia + also travel overseas for holidays. I fly Qantas all the time and have had no problems with confirmation emails.

Same here.. Never a problem with DJ... always within a few minutes.. like others, Qantas takes ages, then I forget about it for reasons as above...

For two bookings made in the last week, did not receive the e-ticket receipt at all for the first booking, and the second took over 12 hours.

Rang QFF service centre and they emailed the text version. The only problem is that this is actually not a tax receipt, as it does not separete the GST from the other taxes.

Awards are often not ticketed immediately, so that could be quite normal. Often an award booking is not issued until a week or so before departure.

If you pop along to the LAN E-ticket page, and punch in either the Amadeus PNR OR the e-ticket number, it will give you a full pintable e-ticket receipt, including a breakdown of the taxes. Won't serve as a tax invoice though, as it won't have the QF ABN on it, but it might be helpful.

I've made 4 bookings in the last 2 weeks and received emails within a couple of minutes in all cases. I have NEVER had a problem with delayed emails.

Maybe they pick on Velocity members :lol:

I have had this problem with QF a couple of times not sending the tax invoice when by law they are supposed to supply you one (and as you point out Shano, the manual form is not a tax receipt). Technically, I think, you are obliged to withold 48%, which is impossible since you have already paid in full.

In the past, I have always received an eticket within an hour of my online booking, regedless of when I would be flying....if there was a delay, it has been the deduction of my QF points for the award ticket; this time, however, the points were immediately yanked from my account:(

Its a while since I made a QF award booking. But I know I have received an emailed itinerary when making the booking, and then later an e-ticket receipt after it was actually issued and the points deducted. The credit card was charged immediately for the +++ . But the process could be different now. And could depend on the type of itinerary and hwo much lead time until flight date.

I just made another two QF bookings (yesterday) and no email for those either
