QF enforcing 3 hour checkin time limit at MEL?

Sure, but my comments still stand.

And BA won’t even through-check to another BA flight unless it’s on the same ticket.

Airlines seem to be putting more requirements on both the passenger and the airport.

Through-checking seems to be getting more restrictive across most airlines.

LCCs aside (where it's mainly point to point with no through-checking). A lot of legacy/hybrid/full airlines aren't interlining on their own flights (e.g DL to DL, VA to VA, etc) unless if it's on the same ticket.

It is not about fault - I did not mention that word.
It is about choice and the consequences of making that choice.
If there is no earlier connection, live with it. If there is, take it.
Be prepared to wait. Just because you want something, does not mean it is right.
Disagree all you want, remember you chose to book the flights and take them.
Total rubbish.

It's not always a choice. Connecting flights without through checking of bags and/or long layover times often cannot be avoided.
It is a choice to fly and to accept the conditions of carriage when booking.
If you are not going to accept the risk of an extended wait, don't take that route or don't fly commercial.

I read from somewhere that QF35 flights from MEL to SG on A380 has half an hour earlier check-in making it 3.5 hours in total.
Is this accurate to date?
Thanks!

That has been my experience lately and I hope will be the case again on Sunday!

It will be good to know.

I’ve been recently knocked back recently when on QF37 MEL-SIN. But that’s an A330.

I sill remember the good old days when one could drop off their luggage and check in the night before the flight next day. But that was in the days when you could still park your car on the up ramp, to departures, at SYD.

You must miss the old TAA bus

I arrived at QF35 check-in a few minutes before the 3.5-hr limit for A-380. The attendant tried to say that check-in wasn't open yet, I'd have to wait. I started to explain that it's 3.5 hrs for A-380, and she cut me off, asking: "is the flight listed in the monitor above your head?" Yes, I said. She proceeded to check me in!

It was sounding very QF up until the point where she admitted to her mistake ;)

Would it be QF staff or airport contractors?

All day check-in exists at heaps of airports (well 2 I can think of recently!)

HKG - ITCI is designed to get your bags away so you can enjoy the day sightseeing before taking the train to the airport - seems totally reasonable to me.

LAX - just recently I arrived 6am and my next flight on AA wasn't until 1300 - AND ON A DIFFERENT TICKET.

I walked around to AA T4, checked-in, then sat in the lounge for 6 hours.

But it's all fake news anyway - people connecting from other ports on the same flight are checked-in - their bags are sitting somewhere. Why can't mine join them?
