After a hard days work in AKL today I'm sitting in the F lounge and just wanted to know what people think of it?

I personally think it has a bit of the EK lounge charm to it...being

  • No staff insight, only on the front counter
  • Coffee machine (broken)
  • Food set out in chafing dishes and luke warm

There are 5 or so people in here, starting to think I might wander into the J lounge and see if it's any better.

What are your thoughts on this lounge ?

Its a nice enough space, and its old worldly style,
but its showing its age and frankly is not much better than the Business lounge next door.

Can you access the EK lounge?

Agreed.

I can access the EK lounge however I find their décor distasteful - I'll put up with QF for another 50 minutes and enjoy more of the wine (best thing in this lounge).

Part of me wonders why there is still a FLounge in AKL, to my recollection QF only fly B738's here which are Y and J, correct me if I am wrong though.

Been there, found it rather basic not much to eat, but wine was good.

It is OK but nothing special.

I wouldn't go out of the way to visit but I will be there early Sunday morning.

It's nothing special I think because I was there just last year but couldn't remember anything about it.

It is basically a smaller version of the J lounge and QP so with less people and usually less noise. Last time I was there the fridges were all out of order and the drinks were sitting in ice. The food is always pretty basic and only warm. Apparently the coffee machine is good, when its working, as the staff kept coming out and making themselves a coffee and going back into the kitchen. {JohnK, I will also be there on Sunday morning but after you have gone, just like the SYD QF 1st lounge the day before. HKG on 8 June it is]

Yes, the Flounge is very basic, but I nevertheless hope that Qantas will keep it - at least there is champagne ;)

Given QF's need to cut costs, you wonder why they would keep it given there are no F services and it is therefore just a WP lounge.

There are F services, just not on QF metal but they do have a QF code.

However the WP's might feel miffed if no F lounge was avaiable. :-)
I reckon its only slightly better than the BNE F lounge, and the champagne options are not worth the effort. BUT Thats just me

Let them feel miffed then ;). Not everywhere has an F/WP lounge and if folks want QF to survive then certain things have to be cut at the moment. I'm guessing that a fairly underused and tired lounge would be on the list.

As a guess they have leased the space for a period of time. If it was closed and everyone used the J it QF would not save much. Removing the common wall would cost $$. I have been there at night when they closed the J and shunted everyone to the F (so that made 4 of us in the Flounge)

Are you stalking me?

See you on 08 June. ;)

It is a relatively pleasant little space, definitely nicer to be in than the J side. Generally better provisions though the last time I was there with the SO she checked out the J side food and declared it better. I'm happy with the F side.

I think that we're miffed when we're shuffled into the QP over Christmas when the domestic J lounges close for "cleaning" :?: but that's OT

Should Q have to offer a FLounge if EK offers the F service or is it just a nicety ?

It's not as if the EK lounge is at the other end of the terminal, it's right next to the QP.

Food definately better in the J Lounge, especially with kids
