I have a booking for two passengers as Classic Rewards business class flights. original booking is BNE-CNS-AYQ. This involves 17 hour overnight "transit" in Cairns for which I have booked a hotel. The BNE-CNS has had a minor schedule (-15 mins) and aircraft change (E190 -> B738).
However, the app is offering me other flight options in addition to the minor time change, including QF51- QF2-JQ660 BNE-SIN-SYD-AYQ, or QF51-QF292-JQ660. So with that routing, we would arrive into AYQ just a few hours later than going via CNS, and I can cancel the hotel booking and we get two QF International flights on which to enjoy the food/service/seat. Obviously it means a 3:35 hour JQ flight in economy SYD-AYQ rather than arriving on E190 in J as originally booked.
They are also offering BNE-CHC-SYD-AYQ, but not at all interested in that routing.
Would QF actually be wiling to re-route us via Singapore for a 15 min change in one segment that does not cause any misconnect issues? The extra SC and points earned as a PC+ member might be nice, and "why flight direct when you can connect" is the first thing the came to mind
.
I assume since the re-routing is being offered in the app, there should not be any change to the points, carrier charges and taxes charged, but this is Qantas so might not be a good assumption.
What would you do?
