If your JQ flight gets cancelled when you are air-side, presumably you can stay in the Flounge longer then? Then when you are ready, advise the agent your JQ flight has been cancelled and have them escort you to dommigration?Hope neither of them gets cancelled.
Need to keep an eye out for this info, as you would need to go through/be escorted out via Aust incoming immi int processing.
And, no you can't use Smartgate, would need to see an ABF officer in both cases.
One factor to consider would also be if they posses lounge membership from Priority Pass or AmEx, in addition (or instead of) Qantas Club. I would argue that the House and Centurion lounges are a cut above the usual domestic fare.I guess for non-WPs/WP1's not really that fantastic. Although if the price is right and flying Jetstar, it's probably quicker to access the QF J lounge this way than accessing the domestic lounges before a purely domestic JQ flight, and I'd say despite the offering being not fantastic, the lounges would be quieter than the domestic QP and you have access to self-serve alcohol all day long.

As my father would say, that's no skin off my nose, being SYD based. In this instance everything worked out just beautifully: caught JQ63 to MEL then QF9 to PER to enjoy two Flounges. Will be interesting to see whether I can take advantage of the QF5 from SYD to PER. But reading this thread there does seem to be a number of opportunities to use the international Flounge on domestic flights, now that air travel has picked up.But no more tag flights on that route in a few months time.

All else being equal (including schedule), when does it ever make sense to fly JQ/QF out of a domestic terminal? The only drawback I see is the extra couple of minutes to clear dommigration and dustoms (domestic immigration and customs) and the limitation of no liquids over 100 ml. In terms of prioritization, I reckon the airport would give priority to international departures for take offs and landings over domestic (all else being equal)

I usually have a water bottle with water in my bag. If I'm going through stricter security I'll have it emptied out then refilled, but I'd prefer not to if possible. Yep, that caught me out during a trip last year. Had to visit one of the airside shops to buy a “travel” size deodorant that was a third of the size but 3 times the price. Better still if you can buy them for $49 in early Feb in the recent Fare Frenzy!! I pay an extra $90 so I can get 30kgs of luggage, choice of seat, meal, flexibility to cancel, points and 20 status credits. But even paying $139 it’s line ball with the cost of the Classic Reward, and much better value.But certainly if you can find a JQ classic award, then this is a real no brainer. 6,400 QFF points + ~$20 in taxes n fees to visit the Flounge and fly one of Australia's luxury airlines to boot on one of their wide-bodies ain't bad!

It would seem like the ideal solution here would be to book the JQ flight down to MEL on Friday then catch the JQ flight back to SYD on Monday thereby providing two licks at the Flounge for less than your cab ride to the airport!Looks like it'll also be running on time today
