I wonder how QF will do it, in ADL in particular.
Are they going to cut the QP in half, and put in a J lounge half way, either towards the Atura side, or halfway towards the Qantaslink side?
Edit: add
Hmm. I wonder if QC and Gold members flying out on international flights out of ADL will get to use the new Business Lounge if travelling in Y? In theory it should be closer to International Business Lounge standard.

Probably not though, QF isn't that generous :)
I am afraid there are no more QF int flights out of ADL my colleague.
That DEL one now goes non stop, MEL - DEL direct.
ADL - SIN with QF is no a no go, had been cancelled for a very long time now.
Do you want to count the 2nd cousin as QF though, meaning JQ ADL - DPS?
Think it was Pushka who said QR J fliers out of ADL - AKL, were given vouchers to use instead of the QF QP (ADL lounge), or was that one interstate, and not ADL.

Still have QR, MH etc flying out of ADL

I find threads like these quite enlightening.

Trashing QF for lack of service, but really wanting more?

I think the new QF is far more nimble than it was three or four years ago. I encourage it. I still cant get a classic award to Europe in J, despite my trying.

We've resorted to a BA J SIN-LHR for our euro summer holiday. Still better than sitting in Y.

We'll position to SIN on the daytime PER-SIN flight.

I think they're doing their best. It's not great, but it's a first world problem. The airline had to lower it's cost base - anyone criticising that has never run a company nor employed people.

Go and fly REX and Virgin and come back to us after a reasonable test period.

Nothing to upgrade, expand - anything!! - the totally coughpy and permanently over-crowded HBA QP. Last time they announced anything on the HBA QP was when they put in a sandwich toaster.
HBA is getting a complete new terminal upgrade in the coming years with construction to start in a couple of years.
My understanding is that a new QF lounge will be incorporated into the new terminal.

This will be the (delayed worse than QF1/11) SYD dom J lounge refresh theme. Special bonus.. the slo....butter chicken will come from the same vat they are using today.

Thank you for flying Qantas. We value your business but possibly not your digestive tract.
I swear... if they ever get around to redoing the SYD DOM J lounge and the theme is an 'Indian bar' that serves butter chicken or an 'Italian bar' that serves penne bolognaise and chicken cacciatore, I'm gonna lose it 🤣

Maybe toasted sandwiches then? Oh wait… you can get those at the existing lounge, I think.

Yes, we have. Even ones with 'customer service' as a core attribute. 😐

Thanks - I missed that 'story' while I was away on a cruise. I've just caught up with some of the stories about it.

O/T, sorry - but what a joke! Do you know the history of HBA and it's 'master plans'? The last one - begun I think 7 years ago, started, went for a bit , then "Ooops, that's not going to work ... all stop" (pre covid). The hoardings are still up. Counting now on another runway upgrade for international air traffic - the one they did a couple of years ago wasn't sufficient - they can land international jets now, but they can't take off with a full load 🤣. Nice one. Getting $60mill from the feds, but according to the airport CEO its going to cost "hundreds of millions of dollars". HBA have already said that governments are going to have to pay, as its an economic service and basic infrastructure for the state.

The new MP doesn't include air bridges (again) because, the CEO says "we like to welcome people to Tassie with our nice fresh air as soon as the aircraft door opens". You think he's not taking the pi** in total?

The MP 'now going to 'community consultation ....' etc etc. Do you know how that works in Tasmania? The NIMBYs and greens will swarm, object to consequent more aircraft, noise, pollution, car traffic, greenhouse gasses etc etc and the plan will be modified and compacted ('damn! its going to cost less') and ultimately only the barest minimum required to squeeze more pax through the place will be done.

If a terminal expansion does start, it will be done in stages, will take forever and I assure you retail will take priority over any airline lounges / lounge expansion. Why would Qantas want to pay more for an increased lounge footprint and running costs, AND pay the higher rent /sq m competing with money-making retail spaces? Their customers at HBA have put up with cough forever, so why should they get anything better now? Virgin has never had a lounge - again, why should they start now? Their customers have done without forever, so why spoil them now? "Will only put airfares up".

OK, call me cynical if you like 🤣 but observing how its gone for 45 years or so of flying out of HBA does teach you something ...

Back to bespoke ADL lounge offerings, I'm amazed no-one has suggested Haigh's Chocolates, but I guess this is now taking it more mainstream ...

Haigh’s is one of Adelaide’s best ”exports”. There are Haigh’s outlets in e.g. Vic. Great chocolate.

As one who loves butter chicken, I say bring on the former.

But on the topic of Adelaide, as others have said it will be interesting to see if they put it elsewhere or use the same space and divide it up. I remember when they announced MEL J domestic lounge and there was a design already in place, but doesn't seem to be one just yet (or at least they don't want to share it publicly just yet).

No, its hasn't got the oomph of the "special" glazed donuts, you know the one, that they used to bring in in hordes, on the flights from interstate to ADL and suburbs, before OTR stepped in.
Amazing its still doing so well, so many cars driving into OTR outlets, and not stepping out of the drivers seat, but still buying lots.
Of years ago, usually, they pack of 16 pieces in boxes of 8 per box, and always in pairs of 2, in a plastic bag, and carried like precious cargo and using up all the overhead bin space.
Edit:
I can't see ADL airport tearing down part of their building, on the QF side, seeing they spent so much as it is, on the VA side already, plus the int terminal upgrade, going downstairs for outwards processing, and then going up back into the "zoo" enclosure.
I forsee they would halve the current QP, and do something like it currently is in MEL QF T1.

The ADL lounge is a great QP. The new J lounge will be another reason to want to retain WP.

Though I would have thought for those based in ADL, an international lounge would be a higher priority than adding a domestic J lounge. However those flying internationally from ADL would be flying e.g. Emirates etc.
Emirates gave up on Adelaide. Qatar J passengers don't get into the pre immigration Qantas Club even when open but get given a food voucher. We didn't get in because the lounge had closed but got nothing. MAS, SQ, Jetstar and QR are the only international flights currently so Qantas won't be doing a post immigration club anytime soon.

FJ and NZ too
Would be nice if the multi purpose lounge got a wiggle on but the usual delays holding things up.
Once that is complete I wonder if airlines like QR and SQ for example cough up to switch to the new lounge or if they will stay in the VA and QF pre immigration lounges

Naughty Pooch ... those would be the Krispy Kreme which were initially only available in the VA terminal at MEL ... you're on the wrong forum!! 🤣

Next to the VA2 lounge? 😂

I came in especially to offer up Haigh's as a theme but i shall offer Rockfords Alicante Bouchet as an alternative theme. Or both. Both works 🤣🍾
OMG the ultimate trump!!

I have half-a-dozen bottles sitting in my wine fridge (down from a straight dozen!) ... will be taking a couple over to my sister in the UK next month, such is the noise I made about this drop the last time I was there ...

I stocked up on Alicante just as Covid hit with a dozen, but sadly Covid went on for too long 🤷‍♀️😂
