QF now charging WP for all Exit Row economy seats [CL/WP1 exempt]

This change is coming at the right time for me, last benefit of sticking with Qantas is now gone. Virgin for me now.

Qantas recently
- Appaling handling of a 24hour maintenance delay in Santiago on their 25+ yr old 747. Stuck on the plane for 5 hours on the tarmac. No QF ground staff to be found once we deplaned and went back through customs.
- Had to call CS myself for information, who knew nothing about what was happening.
- No response to their customer feedback form. Finally phoned me up a month later after filling it in 3 times.
- Compensation for a 24 hour delay a joke. Rep was able to offer 5,000 points as a gesture of goodwill without laughing.
- 5 complimentary downgrades and yet to have a single comp upgrade in 2 years of WP.

VA Gold arrived already thanks to a few flights and family pooling, I've been flying VA since. Love the VA kerbside checkin for Sydney T2. Lounges aren't as good as QF Bus, but still a major step up from the QP. And VA seem to get the priority boarding right, something that almost never happens on QF domestic.

For those interested - Qantas has advised that there is, sadly, no change to the 'charge Platinums and Golds for selecting a seat in an extra-legroom row' policy.

The might well be saying there's no change, but that's not what most people are experiencing!!

I'd be more inclined to finsih that sentence with 'were experiencing'.

Indeed... and possibly QF are also now aware of and able to fix that pesky row 4 availability at T-80 thing for non CL and WP1 pax, as well ;)

And good luck getting the shadow to stick!

Just about every bloody time my 4E shadow is taken by one of the final passengers to board who asked for a better seat at the gates whilst 5/6/7E etc remain unoccupied.
Had interesting situation on Sunday SYD-BNE. Flight relatively full.

I'm in 4C and both 4B and 4E are occupied by single travellers. Behind me 5B, 6B, 5E and 6E are vacant. Interesting the lady in 4B knew the lady in 5A and turned around to talk to her 4 times through the flight.

Interesting after takeoff the supervisor at the back came up through the cabin and greeted the Platinums? I received a greeting and person in 4F received greeting.

Last Sunday's flight was also interesting. I'm in 4D with 2 shadows and 3 people in 4ABC.

Row 4 available to me this morning as lowly SG for 609 to Melbourne from Brisbane on Monday morning. 4A,B,C empty. C selected. Exit rows charging. This week er selection was free 24 hours out on my flight down.

Was able to select Exit Row on last night's QF172 at online check-in - hadn't been available to me prior without paying.

Regards,

BD

I've just recently dropped backed to WP after a few years as P1 and am going through the task of having to find my 'new spot' since 4D is no longer available months in advance.

The two regular aircraft I fly on are F100's and B717's, I've noticed this morning that I am fine to grab an exit row on the F100's at anytime but the 717's are requesting a $15 fee.

That's loyalty for you...
