Qf Olci Sleeping - Again?

Likewise, I've been trying to check-in online for an hour or so this morning without success.

The most common error message I got was "Service Unavailable - Zero size object - The server is temporarily unable to service your request. Please try again later."

I've just spoke to Qantas and was told the Online Check-in has been “switched off for the day” because of a problem reading the Online Check-in issued boarding passes at airports.

I was advised to keep trying through the day as it would be switched on again once the boarding pass reading problem was fixed.

Thanks, Peter, for the posting. I got the same error message. Glad you phoned Qantas and got the reason. I will try again tonight. Otherwise, I will print out the boarding pass at the airport kiosk tomorrow morning.

You would think that if they wanted to switch it off, they would have a better way of doing it! Like give a message that it is not available!

Thanks Myrna.

Hi oz_mark. The Online Check-in links have been temporarily removed from the "view your booking" page and the Qantas home page a short time ago.

The Online Check-in links are back up and appear to be working ok. I've just checked in and printed out boarding passes successfully.

Bah, no luck here. The OLCI button doesn't even apear in 'Manage My Booking'

UPDATE: Now working... maybe it took 10 miunutes from actual booking to take effect.

That sounds like rubbish to me, unless that means they're also shut down the kiosks as the kiosk machines spit out a BP with the exact same look barcode.

The old school cardboard BP's have barcodes on them these days as well.

I've had that happen when issued in the MEL Dom BLounge, but nowhere else as of yet!

I got them in Cairns today as well. Maybe they are still rolling them out and I've just happened to be at the airports that print them that way.

Anyone aware of any hiccups with OLCI recently?

This is the first time since using OLCI that I cannot improve my pre-allocated seat forward of where I currently located. There are only 4/51 vacant seats, 2 window, 1 aisle, 1 middle, available on an international configured 767 BNE-SYD tonight. I used OLCI at close to T-24 hours last night.

Could it be that the recent changes to seat selection software are blocking the first 4-5 rows of WHY to Chairmans Lounge only?

I'll be testing Monday afternoon. Booked the flight Tuesday for next Tuesday. 6:30 pm to Melbourne. Interesting to see, as last flights (there and back) was allocated 23K both times.

I don't think any Platinum has anything to worry about. This is the only QF Platinum that has issues with seat allocation on a regular basis and I have no idea why I need to go through this drill week in week out. OK i get it move to another airline.

I tried OLCI, Quickcheck, Check-in and I could not improve on my allocated seat BNE-SYD. I checked-in around 90 minutes before flight and there was nothing available, not even middle seats forward of where I was allocated originally.

I get to QF business lounge and order a drink and sit down at the computers. Try OLCI again at T-70 minutes and I manage to get the coveted 24F and there are now 5/51 seats in the front section of WHY.

Yes i know this may not be a newsworthy story but when I finally Board flight and eventually find out that there are now 12/51 seats vacant in the front WHY cabin and when I sat down in 24F there was someone in 24E but no-one in 24D. Overall there was 5 aisle seats vacant of which 4 of these were forward of my original allocation.

I've seen this before too, and I reckon its the CL/WP habit (I do it too) of upgrading to J or getting an earlier flight. Frees up the lovely seats at the front.

Nothing special about 24F on the 767 I'm on tomorrow,.....

Dammit. Yesterday 24F was row 2 of a little mini-cabin. This morning 24F is the lone ranger (but taken)
Thems the breaks. Welcome to my world.

Also avoid 23E on the same aircraft. Even though you think you have an aisle seat you could end up in a middle seat if the aircraft is substituted late in the piece. :-|
