Qf Platinum Status Renewal

I'm more worried that they will change the rules after I get there:shock:

Yep, we are all worried about the new version of LTG - LTN... (Life time nothing). Ansett members are there at the moment, and Qantas could either go broke or change the rules enough to ensure that people feel that way...

Does make me wonder if I should be trying harder to achieve AA LTP... Perhaps that will end up less devalued in that type of situation.

Likewise, it will be heartbreaking to spend ~20 years flying QF just to have them make LTG worth what PS is worth now.

I have thought about sending enough MR points to AA to secure LTP with AA but with ASA now the points are worth $$ with QF.

Fingers crossed that LTG will retain lounge access.

Keep in mind that QF has been diluting the benefits of Platinum status since I got to that level ~3 1/2 years ago.

Will more than likely get to Lifetime Gold in ~5 years time but I have this weird feeling that Gold is not going to mean much by then and Platinum will be the new Gold....

(Officially). There are rumours that it may exist, and be offered to certain VERY loyal customers, but I'm yet to actually meet one... Perhaps meeting Santa Claus might be sooner!

Unofficially it does exist - I've seen my (high-flying) colleague's Platinum card with no expiry date, but he advised me it wasn't offered as such it was 'negotiated'. Although he would easily travel enough each year to make WP anyway....

And just to rub salt into the wound, he was recently given CL - I wonder where LTP + earned WP + CL sits in the QFF ranking ;) Amazingly he always manages to get the seat he wants even when booked last minute.....

There have been a few posters over the years on AFF that have said that they have seen a WP card with no expiry. So, taking a pinch of salt on their word, l guess it could exist. "could", being the word to focus on. My thoughts, yeah, it does. As esquire pointed out, if your negotiating a $xx million travel budget on QF (or any premium airline that has status tiers), why not?

I just chaked my QFF summary today and see that I seem to have been 'comped' fro another year of platinum.

Current Status: Platinum
Status reassessment will occur: 31 Oct 2011
Status credits earned from 01 Nov 2009: 925
Additional Status credits required by 31 Oct 2010 to receive
complimentary 'Partner Gold' membership: 1,175

Reading this thread and others it seems that it is unusual for this to happen after only 1 year as WP (me) & that it may only ever happen once.

I will easily make it to about 1150 SC's by by 31/10/2010 renewal date through planned work travel. If I make a little extra effort and achieve the 1200 SC's needed to retain WP without the comp, will the system register that I retained in my own right, and will that mean I will keep the comp up my sleeve for a future year?
I have just checked my account and it reads similar to this.

Current Status: Platinum
Status reassessment will occur: 30 Nov 2012
Status credits earned from 01 Dec 2010: 1100
Additional Status credits required by 30 Nov 2011 to receive
additional Platinum privileges: 1,300

There are actually 80 SC that have not credited yet and I have another couple of flights booked to get me to the 1200 SCs.

All a bit of a surprise really.
