Hi all,

I have a heap of questions I have someone can help give some answers to.

Firstly, I'm off to summer school in Vienna in July and planning to travel around a few cities in Europe after. I've never flown on the A380 before and would like to take this opportunity. I've looked into Y class offerings from SQ, QF, EK (emirates) and LH (lufthansa). Are there any others to consider? How does LH's A380 service compare to the others? It is the cheapest and first pick cost-wise. If status credits and costs weren't an issue, SQ might be my second pick cost-wise as the A380 lands in Frankfurt (closer to Vienna) and not London Heathrow (QF).

Secondly, I checked and noticed that my SC are about to expire (reassessed) on 30 June 2012. Is this a firm date that QFF holds to? I calculated that I should be able to meet the requirement if I fly PER-SIN-LHR-VIE (LHR-VIE is codeshared with BA) and return via LHR-SIN-PER (need another 175 SC to retain silver), however my travel is planned for 30th June depart and 31 August return. SC's don't get added until the travel is complete right? Will it make any sense then to bother with QF if I'm going to lose my status, or can I speak to QFF about this?

Many thanks for any help in advance.

With respect to your SC, my year ends 31 May. All SC gone yesterday and at 0 today.
Not negotiable.
You do remain same level status for the next year.
Other carriers to consider are CX.

QF won't count your flying for credit in a past year, and if you are 175 off silver, I would not let it be a factor in your plans moving forward. There may be better options, such as flying SQ and crediting to Agean!

I have not seen any A380s at PER so you would have to pick it up in SIN. If your year rolls off on June 30 you could start with a better run on July1st to make the status you want early into 2012-13.

MH has just taken delivery of their first A380 and plan to operate 3 times weekly KUL-LHR-KUL from the beginning of July.

Just to clarify SC earned with QF count towards the year when the travel starts regardless of when they credit to your account. So flights on 30 June will be counted tithe year that ends on 30 June. Hence the suggestion to defer until 1 July, if you stick with QF.

Thanks for all the replies regarding status credits.
I will have a look at CX.

Does anyone rate the A380 experience & service on Lufthansa?

cheers.

edit: Blackbird, I've had a look at CX's website and google but it doesn't appear CX has any A380's in their fleet. Are they launching it in early July?
