Speaking of diminution of perks, when did pre take off champagne (more correctly sparkling) stop on QF lunch time flights in J? Last domestic J flight [last week] I was on it was only OJ and water. I'm sure last year it was still champers.
Well, try sitting down the back, and getting some bubbles served with lunch* on Qantas domestic brand flights! And you find, "the full service airline" is the only major domestic airline not carrying any sparkling wines! Outrageous... bubbles are absolutely available on Tiger, Virgin & Jetstar!

*(pre-paid) lunch being a very basic sandwich.

Given that you'll almost certainly run into a queue on the aerobridge anyway, with the people you've just "jumped" coming up behind you, is it really worth the bad vibes to save a couple of minutes?

This is the advantage of flying out of non-Sydney airports such as HKG - dual aero brodges with separate lanes for premium and regular.

Premium queues do operate in SYD and MEL international; it's just that after a few minutes the people operating boarding at the gate often turn them over for general use.

It's not just the gate though it is then the calm when you are actually on board as a result of the dual aero bridges. Bring on the A380 ;)
