QF to Europe returns to the Kangaroo Route (via SIN)

Hopefully MEL-SIN and SIN-MEL A380 services are timed to connect to SIN-LHR i.e. MEL-SIN arriving before SYD-SIN and SIN-MEL departing after SIN-SYD. I would much prefer MEL-SIN-LHR over MEL-PER-LHR or MEL-DXB-LHR. I would have preferred MEL-HKG-LHR rather than MEL-SIN-LHR but one can't have everything.

I guess with year round services this means F is coming back to MEL-SIN and SYD-SIN!

I think I'll most likely be booking MEL-SIN-LHR. If the earn rates are the same as for MEL-DXB-LHR, flying MEL-SIN-LHR you'd get your 4 QF segments and if on double status credits you'd earn enough with loyalty bonuses to retain WP if you already have it on the one return trip.

Should be lots of nice options to look at for reward seats to LHR at the pointy end:

J: MEL-PER-LHR
J/F: MEL-SIN-LHR
J/F: MEL-SIN
J/F: SYD-SIN
J/F: SIN-LHR
J/F: SYD-SIN-LHR

The SYD-SIN-LHR, SYD-SIN or SIN-LHR leg could be on BA too.

Wonder how long JQ7/8 will last for given the timing is similar to QF35 now upgraded to A380

With all these F PAX suddenly in transit in SIN they might need an actual F Lounge again instead of that hybrid thing.

That would be nice, though if they won't have one in LHR one wonders whether they'll see the justification to have one in SIN. Will be interested to hear what the lounge options are these days for WP/OWE in SIN.

Thrilled that there are more A380 options to SIN but for folks who fly to Asia beyond SIN this is a bit of a mixed blessing... the 11PM QF1 (and presumably QF 35) arrival into SIN is too late to connect to short haul regional endpoints like KUL and BKK. So looks like more overnights in SIN for me.

It just shows that QF does listen to its customers: Now we can have bacon back on the breakfast menu.

I wouldn't rule out QF services moving to T5 in LHR

I was thinking with the axing of MEL-DXB-LHR that I wouldn't get to fly the A380 much anymore. Now, I think I'll be flying it as much as ever. I'd much rather a stop in SIN than in PER. Unless I'm going on points and going via PER is all I can get or going via PER is considerably cheaper I think I'll go via SIN.

If they're just opening a lounge soon in T3 I think it'll be at least a year or two before they move from T3. Though T3 was scheduled for demolition in 2019 so they may not have much choice unless this has been pushed back?

If they timings stay as they currently appear in the GDS (which I imagine they won't!) then it's going to be a pretty long wait for MEL pax wanting to go onto the QF1 (SIN-LHR)

A great and unexpected enhancement Just hope the MEL-SIN_MEL legs line up to enable connection onto SIN-LHR-SIN

Great news, sounds like no material loss of EK benefits? Still same codeshare and opportunity to go through DXB on EK metal if you wish. More options for all..

The SIN lounge will be a nightmare with all these additional premium pax flights and with the reintroduction of F surely there must be a second lounge space on the cards!

Would prefer the MEL-SIN flight to arrive maybe an hour or two before the SYD-SIN flight. There needs to be some allowance for possible delays of the MEL-SIN flight, but not 4 and a half hours. With a longer stopover in SIN there'd be plenty of time for a shower and something to eat without feeling rushed which would be a plus.

Hopefully. Would love to be able to visit a QF FLounge in SIN. Now that a deal is done with EK if that's planned hopefully they can get on with doing that. The new LHR lounge will be finished in the next few months or so, maybe SIN will be the next international destination to get a new lounge!

My thoughts too, although with SIN being the hub for 3k, one would think JQ 7/8 acts as the main feeder service into 3K's operations ex Australian Eastern seaboard.

It will be interesting to see if JQ stays on the route, considering the competition from Scoot & Air Asia (to KUL) ex MEL.

Credit where credit is due, this is an excellent announcement for LHR-bound flyers, especially in MEL who now have two options to LHR.

Very glad to hear that they're not ending the EK alliance, as DXB still offers incredibly good one-stop options to the rest of Europe.

SIN is fantastic airport, much better than DXB but without proper F lounge I don't see this change as very positive for transit to LHR. Both QF and EK lounges are boring, maybe BA is the better option in SIN...
