Notice you can’t select any seats on any of the flights? Normal bug?

‘Indivudual Seat Selection not available for this flight’

I'm interested in the idea. Anyone know the schedule/prices off hand so I don't have to search?

Ahem......

I'm mildly surprised there's sufficient market for this.

However, a $15m or airport redevelopment (1600m runway, new taxiways, lighting upgrades etc in 2017). Plus launch support from Vic Gov, Visit Vic and City of bendigo. So clearly keen to get service to Bendigo.

Will be interesting to see if it lasts beyond the startup funding period.

$129 e/w launch fare
$440 the regular flex fare (for comparison with other routes)

0855 dep ex-Bendigo
1725 arr 1925 ex-SYD

Looks like the aircraft stays overnight in Bendigo. What's minimum rest for Dash8 crews - late arrival may push into late departures next morning. Also will fog/low cloud base, particularly in winder, be an issue?

Ahem......

You missed the context of samh004's quote, which was in relation to the suggestion of catching train to Melbourne, I assumed that the question was about cost/timetable of the train not the flight.... after all anyone who has 17,000 + posts on AFF would be able to find out price/timings of a flight within seconds. :D

Indeed. I will be in Bendigo that evening, and hopefully will have my onward train travel sorted by then!

I more so meant of the train, knew the details for the flights. :p

Thanks to @dajop and @AIRwin

Edit: I shall be on the inaugural, and will look into catching the train to Melbourne following.

There is Nullawill up the Calder Hwy from Bendigo but I don't think that's big enough for an airport yet.

But having family in Bendigo it would be good, except living in Canberra it's a toss up whether it will make things easier. Currently we fly to MEL and then drive for an hour to Bendigo. So now I can now fly to Sydney and then onto Bendigo. But good on them for getting more traffic into regional areas as Bendigo is certainly thriving as people and companies are getting sick of the grind of living in and getting around the big smoke. Plus you can jump the train down to the footie at Dockland Stadium or even the 'G' quicker than people in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Launch fare is $129.

It would seem one of our mods had the same misunderstanding......

One might suggest a train timetable / prices were similarly easy to find out with a search too......

Worth flying in from Sydney just to eat at Mason's. One of the best restaurants in Aus right now.
Definitely. Stay at the Shamrock Hotel, eat at Masons, have a pie at the Original Pie Shop, wander around Rosalind Park, take the Deborah Mine tour, a beer at the Rifle Brigade Hotel, supper at the Wine Bank On View - a good weekend

Population is over 100,000 and add in nearby surrounding areas and it’s 200k.

CFS is only ~80,000 and has an average of 5 QL flights per day, 2 VA, and ~ 3 flights to MEL per week with TG; although it does have considerable Govt traffic.

Based on that, provided the locals get behind it, it should be a winner.

The difference is CFS doesn't have a major international airport 90 minutes drive away. Agree it should be a winner - for locals travelling to Sydney, or destinations you can only reach via a connection through SYD - as it will have a big advantage over driving/parking or the $50 airport shuttle.

Looking at the service for Easter* from SIN the cheapest routing around that time is SIN-MEL-SYD-BXG ... Hmm not so sure about that one! (if I had interest in SC's would be OK!)

* Easter 2019 should be a special one. Having grown up there, Easter always meant the Easter Fair (now Festival) which culminated in a parade which concludes with firecrackers, imperial lions and Sun Loong, supposedly the worlds longest imperial dragon. 2019 will be special, as it will be the last outing of the 50 year old Sun Loong, the first outing of the new and longer Dai Gum Loong and if Heritage Victoria permit, the original (>100 y.o) dragon - Loong - will be dusted off and come out of the museum, so that all three dragons will wind their way down the streets on Easter Sunday.

As a Bendigonian I am very excited about this. Currently looking at booking the service for an upcoming trip to QLD (MCY), returning from CFS. Will save parking at Tullamarine or paying for an airport bus.
Since someone mentioned the Masons restaurant - I'm happy to say we have a table booked for tonight :)
