Red Roo,

Will the Jetstar Lounge Entry Terms and Conditions be changing in the interim until it becomes a Qantas Club? Obviously these T&Cs were written when QF services were not operating at OOL, but now that they will be... will a QF flight be deemed as a "qualifying flight"?

Lounge Terms & Conditions | Jetstar

1.5. Entry is only available to those passengers departing Gold Coast or Auckland Airports and being:
1.5.1. Passengers starting their journey on a Jetstar domestic or Jetstar international flight departing from Gold Coast Airport.
1.5.2. Passengers starting their journey on a Jetstar domestic flight departing from Auckland Airport.
1.5.3. Passengers connecting from a domestic flight to a Jetstar domestic flight departing from Gold Coast Airport or Auckland Airport.
1.5.4. Passengers connecting from a domestic flight to a Jetstar international flight departing from Gold Coast Airport.

1.9. Platinum Qantas Frequent Flyer members and Chairmans Lounge members may present a current membership card as a valid form of Gold Coast Lounge or Akarana Lounge entry pass for themselves and two guests travelling on a qualifying flight. Bronze, Silver and Gold Qantas Frequent Flyer members and Qantas Club members travelling in economy must purchase entry.

** Timing of removal of ATA for Virgin Lounge becomes even more inconvenient!
;)

Would not be surprised if its closed for a refurb from Oct 1!

Bugger!

Just did my first ever DJ Happy Hour fares for the same period - $65.00 each way. It WAS a great bargain!

Virgin have just rolled out $39 fares 17 Oct - 12 Dec and 16 Jan - 28 Mar!! Gotta love competition!

Oh well... decision done for me... maybe fit a few of each in for my October to December travel... Can't miss out on Lounge access after all, can I?

Hi everyone,

Yeah, just saw this glitch myself :(. Qantas.com are fixing it ASAP. Sorry!

Cheers,
Red Roo

Can you get them to fix the https://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/do/dyns/auth/pointsEarned too. The message I get is:

Gold Coast to Sydney is operated by Jetstar. You can earn Frequent Flyer points and Status credits on Jetstar Economy Starter Plus, Economy Starter Max and Business Max fares only.

Though I do know how many SC and points I will be earning anyway :p

Virgin have also dropped Business fares to $279 over those dates versus QF at $599

Booked!
MEL-SYD on QF400 seat 11A
SYD-OOL on QF860 seat 13A
Both exit row windows and nearly the furthest forward I could book as QFF Gold.

If the neighbours are throwing a party, and you're not invited, there's only one thing to do: hold a bigger and better party?

Timetable is:
Code:
[B][U]Flight Sector Dep Arr Avail [/U][/B]
QF 861 OOL-SYD 0815 1035 12345--
QF 861 OOL-SYD 1005 1225 -----67
QF 863 OOL-SYD 1250 1510 12345--
QF 863 OOL-SYD 1305 1525 -----67
QF 865 OOL-SYD 1740 2000 1234567

QF 860 SYD-OOL 0710 0735 12345--
QF 860 SYD-OOL 0900 0925 -----67
QF 862 SYD-OOL 1145 1210 12345--
QF 862 SYD-OOL 1200 1225 -----67
QF 864 SYD-OOL 1635 1700 1234567

Timings are based on OOL in AEST and SYD in ADST (timetable extracted for 7 day period beginning 28 October 2012). (1 = Monday)

In short, it's not all bad if you are SYD based and doing a trip to OOL, but same-day trip timing sucks for the other way around. If you're OOL based needing to do business in SYD, you either have to overnight (and then start early), start later then overnight to next day, or have a really short day, or... shock horror... fly JQ!

Dare I say... "It's a start... we can work on that...."

I knew the date of the inaugural flight rang a bell...Grandmother's 90-something (I really should know) birthday.

Bahhhh

Also up on QF860, back on a DJFlexi which has been upgraded using 2nd last of my complimentaries.

The competiton is good news for anyone thinking of travelling to OOL. But - like other posters I really wonder exactly what is the QF agenda here as they are launching into a market that is already a bloodbath and serviced by Tiger, Jetstar, Virgin and now Qantas. Why SYD-OOL?

If its about holding onto total Y and or leisure market then QF can expect to be massacred by Tiger, Jetstar and possibly Virgin.
If its about holding onto or regaining the J market then they had better sharpen their pricing pencils - especially for J fares....

But anyway - I think that we can thank Virgin for the return of Qantas to OOL. And for those OOL regulars - think about what would happen if DJ did pull out of OOL in the future....
