Yeah, Ben might be the cranky voice of Australian aviation and given to a few too many rants and fanning of rumours IMHO, but FWIW he does know his stuff. One things for sure, anybody on a public tour of Boeing's 787 factory would be able to see the line and spot any 787s with Qantas livery, lets hope someone does that and tweets a photo or whacks it on Facebook!
The 333's have never been 2x3x2 up front.I wouldn't expect QF to spend the money to change the 333's to 2-3-2 up front.

In fact they have only the one configuration.
It's the 332's which vary ...

Not so easy to spot on the production line. They are covered in a green film, and roll off with a white tail. The tail is then painted in a separate facility from manufacture which is not in the tour. They are then flown from Everett to Boeing Field south of Seattle for painting. A friend of mine has a view of the runway at Boeing Field and can see what are known as the "white tails" flying in each day from the factory, still with their green protective film over the fuselage.
I thought that the vertical stabiliser was painted with the airline logo (well as much of it as will fit) prior to assembly. Then you can see the intended aircraft owner once the vertical stabiliser has been attached to the aircraft as it comes down the line.
