QF1/2 F pax experience through SIN

I think having the coin is the problem for most here...

Actually, members of AFF don’t need the coin because they have an equally valuable asset - knowledge. Many here have the privilege to fly F on regular basis, including SQ, without paying anything remotely close to the retail cash price.

Indeed. But that’s not the context of the OP that you tagged...

Money and knowledge - two different things.

What I meant to say, for example, if someone doesn’t have the money to buy $10,000 ticket on SQ F but they have the knowledge to apply for credit card that gives high bonus offer they will be able to book the same flight for around $500.

I only flew QF F because my points upgrade succeeded. I don't fly enough regularly to maintain QF WP and have status in another airline as well. I may not even retain WP next membership year.

I put in my upgrade request to F when they'd already announced that QF9 would switch to via PER without F class, and before I'd heard that there would be QF F on MEL-SIN. I could have cancelled my upgrade request, but I knew upgrade chances wouldn't get any easier with less QF F capacity to/from LHR.

You'd be surprised but SIA is actually cheaper on some routes. Someone mentioned that PER-LHR direct was close to $10k but SIA was significantly less.

I'm genuinely interested why people still chose QF F over other carriers on this route.

For me, it's the cabin temperature. I can't breathe when it's warm, and the QF CSMs will turn it down for me most of the time. And when they've refused to turn it down, they've offered me oxygen.

The three times I've flown in EK F I've thought I was going to die. They wouldn't turn down the temperature and just offered me iced towels. The last time I turned bright pink all over - including my stomach! - and I said never again. I've had other bad experiences on BA, and reviews of a lot of the Asian airlines say they're hot. So when I've had to be in Sydney first thing in the morning and couldn't risk any delay, I've flown the old QF9 via Melbourne and stayed in a hotel!

No doubt some people (and quite a few CSMs) think I'm crazy. But each to their own ...

Not crazy at all. Too many airlines overheat their cabins and don’t offer individual air vents. Some people will suffer more than others. At least QF got that right.

OT but re cabin heating.. I flew SQ F on the new suites.. which are amazing and fantastic, but the cabin was so hot I was sweating in the PJ's !!! lol

The next SQ flight I took back had a very cool cabin, so it's just variable...

re QF F amenities at SIN... I wonder what's the most important things for transit pax or Originating pax (in SIN) .... for transit? Maybe a shower, and maybe someplace comfy with a snack. There's lots of food on the flights. After LHR-SIN many would want a shower.. so my question is... do F pax get priority to take a shower? That would be very worthwhile IMHO.

The reserved seats and table service may be a QF F lounge "lite" but it's probably adequate more or less for an hour or so transit IMHO. Sure, would one want a "F" lounge? Well BA possibly? Heck I may even get up and walk the terminal for a bit after sitting heaps, or just having the shower to refresh.

of course different people will require/expect different things from their lounge experiences.

Remember ex-LHR for years the "better" lounge in T3 was BA Galleries F, which is pretty average.. then CX renovated their lounge and has a F side, and now QF have the London Lounge so.... quite a few options. The QF lounge though is again a hybrid.. Better than SIN in respects, but still not dedicated F.... clearly the way QF is going.

Interesting point, many moons ago I recall the QF lounge giving WPs priority for showers, probably 10 years ago orvthereabouts.

Which area were the reserved seats in?

The area around to the left twice from reception. Nothing fancy, just less crowded than the rest of the lounge. And, as I said, enabled staff to provide wait service for food and drink.

This is the same area with the same service as what was already provided to CL/P1 in the SIN Lounge.
Having experienced it, there’s nothing particularly F about it.
I have heard mutterings around the traps that QF is looking at what it can do to in SIN but it’s sounds from your experience as if nothing has actually happened yet.
I will be in SIN at the end of next month. Will be interesting to see what develops here.

Please stick to the topic which is the experience of QF F Pax in SIN on QF 1//2.
There are plenty of other places on the forum to post your opinions on the merits of choosing QF F and/or other F carriers

On my next time through I was put in a different area (only once to the left then near the end on the right). Lounge was much emptier this time so may have been the reason for different area on the previous visit when the lounge was much fuller.

I've had a couple of QF staff members tell me QF is working on the issue.
