It is if you're in QF 380 F down to 747 F!!
It's nice to see some people actually commenting on the topic at hand rather than numous posts on statistics (read: p*ssing contest) between DJ and QF.
This is indeed the situation I would find myself in should my upgrade request come through, and to be honest, I don't think I'd waste 45,000 points on the 744 F product, when I can keep them for an upgrade to a suite on a 388.
I would easily change days if I hadn't sprung for a friend to fly on the same flights (albeit she will be in Y) and she won't have the flexibility I have.
I think I may just speak to the premium desk to either have us both changed to the day earlier or fly us via MEL (not my preference as it makes it a long trip to LAX).
I have also had it confirmed that it will be a 4-class 744 (hate to be one of the pax who was booked in F), so that counts out the 'A380 style refit' that has been promised, as they all appear to be on 3-class birds with no F.
I understand this is a first world problem here guys - no need to be harsh, but when a customer purchases a product, one expects that the product won't be downgraded a few weeks prior to travel. One would imagine SYD-LAX is a busy route for QF, and I know MEL-LAX can sometimes go out half-empty - why not pull the aircraft from that route? Just a thought...
