QF861 has made a triumphant return to Sydney. My upgrade came through, and I had a pleasant flight sitting next to a member of the 'Customer Experience' team.

Why, because iCan.

It was a very enjoyable morning, great to meet some new people and put faces to names

The return flight would have been all the more better if I didn't have someone constantly banging or kicking the back
of my seat.... Oh... sorry... That was JessicaTam... Probably a 2D vs 1F thing :p

I was however seated next to a P1 (861) who also did the 860 flight up... I thought perhaps it could have been someone
we all know and love... but when they did not object to a minion Platinum member such as myself sitting in such close
proximity I soon realised it must not have been the one that we should probably be bowing down to... or vacating the F Lounge
upon their arrival.

I am sure you were in my seat!

Great to meet some new faces and catch up with some old friends. See you back on OOL when the lounge is done.

sounds great, I'll be a few days behind you all, doing a quick turnaround on Thursday

Qantas pulled out balloons and cupcakes at SYD

A decent feed, and a special mention for AFF on decent... along with a few "interviews" on the plane...
The response to "How long are you staying in the Gold Coast" by JessicaTam in particular was priceless (returning on QF861)

Landed at OOL ahead of schedule, turned around on the runway and came back to get a wash.
The wind was strong and I think the firetruck ended up with more water than the plane.

We were greeted by a surfboard and some locals in Qantas sponsored surfwear

Inside the terminal there was a "special" greeting

and some extra goodies were magically procured

I'll put some photos up when I get home tonight.

Also we (AFF) got a special mention when the plane touched down on the aircraft PA in OOL "Thanks again for flying with Qantas and a special thank you to the members of Australian Frequent Flyer who are on board today". :)

Funny thing is none of us mentioned to the crew that we were on-board, so not sure how they knew, none-the-less was a great surprise for us on-board and bought smiles to our faces.

Wonder if Red Roo worded them up before the flight? ;)

That certainly is one of the more desired enhancements.. Hope it becomes more consistent
