QFF Award CX flight confirmed and then wait listed, what are my next steps?

My reinstatement request was sent on 25/02 and still nothing 😳
Call again and confirm if they sent the reinstatement request or send another one if necessary. When I called them on 24/02, the lady told me she will send the request after this call but actually, she didn't, just lied to me and I found out 48 hour later and asked them to do that again.

I’ve been calling every two days … I’ve been told on several occasions now that they can see the reinstatement was sent on 25/02 but still waiting response. Very frustrating.

CX flights show "Confirmed" for 300 something days time. This thread has me concerned!

Quick poll: how many people on this thread are still waiting for a response?

I'm strategising next move and thinking strength in numbers ....

My booking used to be “not valid booking” on Cathay Pacific website, now it is showing “waitlisted” and recognized by Cathay, still waitlisted on Qantas website. I contacted Qantas again and they told me to call back in a week, the reinstatement request was sent on 04/03.

Gosh this doesn’t sound very promising. I’m about to book 2 C seats for early next year SYD to KTM. Option 1 is with MH via KUL option 2 is with CX via HKG. Both showing availability atm. I think CX has a better product in C but MH sounds more reliable from a ticketing / rescheduling perspective.
Which one should I pick?? 🤔

I don't know about the ticketing side... they apparently cancel bookings quite quickly too, just like CX. Either way it's up to Qantas to ticket the changes in time, or you lose your booking. One thing is that CX apparently does sometimes reinstate previously ticketed award bookings as described in this thread; I've never heard of a successful reinstatement on MH.

Maybe Malaysia is a bit more settled than Hong Kong in terms of travel patterns, and thus less likelihood of rescheduling things, but that's hard to say.... all airlines reschedule to some degree.

Mine has been issued but I had to get Yahoo News to cover it!

Matt Graham, editor of Australian Frequent Flyer, said the whole ordeal has been "poorly managed' by Qantas and is not "a normal thing".

Good to see AFF. especially Matt, responding to the media requests to assist AFF members.

Does anyone have any contacts of anyone at QF who know what the issue is/how to resolve this?

My booking is still Waitlisted, and I'm getting fobbed off by the 1300 659 161 team. One person I spoke with even hung up on me, after I politely asked to escalate the call to his supervisor (he was trying to tell me that my flights were confirmed and I'm good to go to the airport, when the CX site still says waitlisted).

EDIT/UPDATE: Second person I've spoken with told me it's with Cathay. And if there's a cancellation/award seat opens up with Cathay, then it will be confirmed.

Same with me, have a flight next month but pending all other OWA RTW ticket trips. Very concerned.

@bellroy26 could you please send me the number as well. Thanks very much

Come back to confirm the family and I were able to fly. Only had one mishap, where they weren't able to check my daughter in, under 2 years old, as they said she didn't exist on my ticket and couldn't find her in the system. They were able to link it after I provided them her e-ticket number, so have these handy just in case.
