QFF Bonus Status Credits/Points gift on back of Aug 2023 profit

Nothing in my app 11:30am, email offer received about 3 hours prior. As mentioned above, probably pushing out in batches. I was offered the 75/500, platinum status, 30,000 miles flown prior year.

I only had one flight in the dates mentioned and received the 30/1000 offer
Taking the status credits as currently still have way too many points.

1000pt/10SC for both myself & NoName Jnr. Suspect Mrs NoName will be the same when I check tonight. Only taken a couple of award flights on QF metal. Selected the 1,000pts. Never bothered with status so not interested in the SC.

What are we thinking offers "better bang for buck"? To me 75 status credits looks more generous than 5000 points, especially as Qantas says that to earn 5000 points would require 6.25 flights between Melbourne and Sydney, but that would only net you 60 ish status credit credits from that calculation.

I'm already going to qualify for Gold again this year and my membership year isn't until February, but the appeal of lifetime credits seems attractive than 5000 points that I can earn pretty quickly from a credit card.

This is a very high SC / low points ratio - compared to the regular loyalty bonus of 50SC / 8000 points.

SCs are much more valuable - except if you don't need them, in which case they're worthless.

It will depend on your situation.

Any P1s? A more substantial gift, or something additional? Would have done Qantas a lot more good than we mainly reward flyer bludgers.

Hit the nail on the head when you can get 8000 points with the regular loyalty bonus. Obviously far cheaper to dish out status credits to the average punter than points.

Zero flights in T&C time frame for me & just 1 reward forward booking for family member.

So zilch on QF for me, but seems that family member reward booking counts me in for 30SC/1000pts, tiny step more than @Gold Member.

Ah QF just trying to take away news of Qatar issue. Smoke n mirrors.
nice help for those with membership year ending Aug.

P1 and received the 5000pts / 75SC offer.

I haven't decided yet, but tending towards taking the points. I'm already at 3000SCs with membership year ending 31 May 2024. Realistically, I can do more with the points.

I received the option 75SC/5000pts after flying 6 revenue domestic and a return revenue flight SYD-LAX

I always think its pretty easy to earn points with CC churns and other deals. That said anyone who is LTG would most likely find them useless given how high the LTP bar is set.

Anyone else i'd say go for SC's, you may not be chasing staus now.... but things change and you won't be able to get 75SC's later in the year without flying. With Points there are just so many ways of getting them if you are short a few thousand.

I imagine there may be a lot of people who've never had silver status and that 30/75Sc's may be enough to tip them over the 300Sc's they need.

This could be a boon for those whose program year ends in August. Simply select the bonus status credits on August 30th and hopefully they credit in the new year.

Yes, but what if it's based on activity date and not the transaction date? Could the activity could be dated as 30 August, causing them to expire on Sept 1? I have an August program end date so unsure what I'll do because the SC boost for the new year would be nice.

Really depends on your circumstances. If you are a points collector but don't travel often to earn much status credits then yes the 5000 bonus points makes a lot of sense. On the other hand there are several circumstances where the status credits make more sense:
  • You are on the cusp of earning/retaining status but your program year ends soon and you won't earn enough status credits with the flights you have booked to earn status (and don't want to make another booking)
  • You've already made status but your program year ends in August. In theory you could request the status bonus at the end of August and it may credit in the new year giving you a nice 75 status credit boost to kick off the year
  • You're gonna hit status anyway but you want to hit status sooner. In my instance, I'm gonna hit Platinum with the flights I booked, but getting to Platinum sooner will elevate the travel I have booked. I would certainly be willing to forgo 5000 bonus points if it meant I got a an extra visit to the Flounge at SYD due to my qualifying earlier. I think many on this forum would gladly trade 5000 QFF points for entry to the Flounge.
  • You are aiming for lifetime Silver/Gold status
That said anyone who is LTG would most likely find them useless given how high the LTP bar is set.
I believe the advice given is once you hit QFF LTG, you should then aim for BA lifetime Gold (OneWorld Emerald) which can be attained with just 35,000 tier points. It sounds like a lot but BA Holidays has a double tier point promotion running through the end of next year.

Frustratingly tight redemption window. Normal loyalty gifts give about 3 months? This one is just long enough for "greedy Qantas" to fall out of the news cycle.

I am obviously less loved by QF than many others. Only offered 1000 points or 30 SC. As SCs are pretty much meaningless/useless to me, I opted for the paltry 1000 points, which I assume will not count towards PC+ qualification.

Left me very much underwhelmed.
They probably will count towards PC/PC+

Unless you've already maxed out the 20K points from flying.

Pretty logical really - they have a sale on, they incentive you logging on to receive the gift, while you're there you see the points and might book a flight.

The sale ends the same time as the gift selection window.

If you don't like it, you don't have to accept it.

I went with the points. LTG, will requalify WP next month (7 months early) and no intention of going for LTP.

I used to be all about the SCs, these days I'm all about the points as I'm having a great run of long haul redemptions. And to think I used to be a points hoarder - how things change!

Exactly, I have already requalified WP with 1.3K SC landed before the end of October.

75 SC's would be a random blib on my 38K lifetime tally.

5K points are worth more to me ...
