I flew J PER-MEL last Friday on an any seat award reward.

Same problem, FF details did not show on the itinerary. Tried to add it online to the booking - no success. Rang QF, and the Rep told me that the booking was correctly associated with my FF account. Got to the airport on Friday and tried to use next generation check in with my card - no luck. The only seat I could select was 4D from memory - even though Expert Flyer showed cabin was wide open.

This exact problem happened to me last week when I considered myself very fortunate to get a Y award seat SYD-LAX on Dec 20. Was amazed to see that if I wanted to pre-select a seat it would cost $20 (I am a WP).

Called Qantas - very helpful person told me this had been happening for a few days - added my FF number to the booking and I was able to go online almost immediately and select a seat with no drama.
