QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

MEL-SIN-HND maybe another option - JL usually has pretty good U availability on SIN-HND, and SIN is a much easier transfer than D-I at SYD.
Good thought but nothing available unfortunately....currently booked into NRT and QF's on time performance lately has me a little concerned about making the limo bus transfer to HND.....Its a pity I didnt pick up on QF59 earlier

I mean the other thing that we often forget to take into consideration is that A332/A333 J cabins are relatively small at 26-28J seats. I wouldn't be surprised if U2 is the maximum allocation given that usually they can sell most of the rest

also July is school holidays season both ex-AUS, and then summer ex-Asia. traditionally June - Aug is peak season for a lot of travel which makes it even harder to get a release from the droid

in contrast American routes seem easier to get J released as either they are 787 (42J) or 380 (70J). You almost would assume a slightly higher number could be converted from I to U. Obviously all this is dynamic and I suspect there is a hard quota, then it would get changed algorithmically closer to departure date

obviously the exception to the rule is QF1/2 as we have discussed in this thread before.

Of my last 4 requests SYD-SIN-SYD I looked at the loadings on EF, and on 3 of the 4 the T availability was greater on the A380 flight than the A333. And yet what I got was and even split of 2 on each aircraft type. The last request for example was QF2 in November and it was T7 but rejected. The agent then tried QF292 with T5, and it was successful. So while the bucket numbers matter, there are obviously key factors that are not so easy to discern. (Edited: These were for PE seats not J).

It's very very rare that we see QF1/QF2 SYD-LHR seats released, and even rarer that we see the individual SYD-SIN or SIN-LHR legs released. The I class inventory shown to QF agents has also been different to what we see via EF in my experience.

And there are obviously connecting flight issues that come in to play on SYD-SIN-SYD. When there are flights to BNE/MEL then perhaps more availability for the SIN-SYD leg. I seem to remember that on one of my 2023 trips the BNE flight was not operating every day.

Wondering if someone can help me. I made a request for seats to be released. I can see the booking in my profile. How do I know if they are approved? Thanks in advance.

Under status, they will either say Confiirmed, or still On Request.

Or you can call (but usually QF emails with "we have an outcome...")

It took me three calls over three days to get the e-ticket issued after it popped up in my bookings for my last successful request.

Is "Confirmed" enough? There's plenty of examples of bookings in FF profiles showing that, but that's not actually the case. I had a case a good 19 months ago where an incompetent agent (i.e. offshore) requested a seat. It showed in my booking as being in D and "Confirmed", which of course it wasn't.

In my experience yes, but again, call up and just ask - if it's good to go they'll request payment of taxes etc and ticket.

Point being initially they show as "On Request" and change if approved.

I understand being leery so that's why guve them a call, or wait for the email - which says to call.

Had some success in the last 24 hours. Redeemed about 1 million points, primarily with J seats to/from US & Asia.

Needed a bit more flexibility on dates/ports than in previous years, but still reasonable availability.

Annoyingly, QF haven't released any I inventory on some routes in particular directions for December (which they did last year). Hopefully that changes and I can get flights added to existing bookings to scoop up some DSCs for them too.

I have tried all dates and location options Sydney to Europe return in September. No for all. About 18 flights sent, some with multiple dates from September well into October. There is so little award availability with Qantas and they just keep promoting the FF program.

Had the most Qantas of experiences.

Requested release of a seat from North America to Australia in J. Agent from South Africa comes back and says its rejected due to lack of available sale fares. I request another route. While on hold, I decide to check qantas.com to see if it were true about the lack of sale fares. Lo and behold, on the exact date I had requested there is a classic award seat in J! It's one of those mysterious award seats only redeemable with Qantas points (ie U is 0 on ExpertFlyer and not visible to any partner airlines).

The agent comes back and I tell her about this seat I've just seen. She cannot see it on her end!!! Tells me to book it on the website, which I did. Successfully ticketed.

Quick Q: As WP got through to a less than confidence inspiring agent who did a few seat requests. In app, of 4 requests on one route with same ref one says confirmed and the other 3 are blank (QF295 Syd to BKK in J) A seperate route request also says confirmed (QF9 Mel to Per in J, shocked to see that as confirmed…)

I told the agent the app says confirmed but agent said it takes 24-48 hr, no payments taken (South Africa or Fiji, no sure).

Should I call again to have payment taken or wait for emails?

Thanks all
