QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

In app, of 4 requests on one route with same ref one says confirmed and the other 3 are blank (QF295 Syd to BKK in J) A seperate route request also says confirmed (QF9 Mel to Per in J, shocked to see that as confirmed…)

Go to MMB on a computer - does it show the Confirmed bookings being in U or another class?

I would call back up for this request and say you need to make payment - it should be ready to go.

This request sounds like it hasn't been set up properly....
Thank you for your help and prompt replies. I’ll call and report back

After a hearty wait time…

You were spot on. The QF295 flights were good to go, paid up now. The QF9 flight was not set up correctly, came back declined as expected.

Thanks again for your help

75 mins on hold early this afternoon...

But a good result

J seats on QF 770/450 and 435/775 for a Christmas status run/parental unit visit

The last transcon leg needed to be requested, but was approved whilst I was on hold a second time.

Happy with that as an outcome.

Noticed a few recent comments about delays in ticketing. It always pays to jump in and update APIS (at least DoB) once you see the booking in your trips. The website will even show a banner stating it’s necessary for a ticket to be issued.

I have had my first attempt at a J release, unsure on success, I think I had Manila CC, I had checked availability on the date which was i9, agent told me she needed to submit a request to release, all sounded good, was put on hold for a bit, and she helped me with a q pass refund.

After submitting the request she sent me an amadeus qantas itinerary, with a booking ref and "BUSINESS CLASS (I) WAITLISTED"

Flight does not show in bookings, but I can check the reference in MMB and can see:
Status: Requested
Travel Class: Business (I)

After 30 mins she told me I might need to wait 24hrs, did not seem right but I had to jump off the call anyway after waiting an hour on hold.

Given other experience in getting a result (approved/declined) within 10-15 mins, does the above sound like its been incorrectly requested and I should call back in the morning to get it sorted.

Thanks for your thoughts :)

Yes, it needs to be in Business (U) class. Call back and ask them to fix the request.

Called back this morning, much shorter wait, I think it was still Manila (I forgot to ask), explained the issue to "Jan" who saw the problem, she modified and resubmitted, and came back confirmed 1 x U for BKK-SYD almost immediately. Taxes and points taken and e-ticket arrived about 20 mins later.

You did well on a traditionally difficult route for premium rewards. Well done!

I don't know if I did anything wrong but yesterday I requested a release in Business from Manila to Sydney (QF20) on 22/09 and 23/09. The attendant said there was no availability and offered economy instead. Since it was my first time requesting, I accepted it but it looks like there is a lot of availability in Business. In your experience, should I try again?

Looks like there's I class availability, so they should have been able to submit it for consideration. I'd call again.

22nd is showing I5, 23rd is I7.

Are you after more than one seat? Be sure to note it is a seat release request. The agent may have just looked for U.

They should be able to submit the request but it would not shock if denied, specially on the 22nd.

How long is a reasonable wait before agitating when the seat/s are shown as requested and what is the wording to get a decision?

Yes, I got shocked too because I saw the availability. I only need 1 seat.

It is usually by 3 days there will be a decision. An email is usually sent as well.

I.would call if nothing after 3-4 days

Just because there is I does not mean it will be approved - specially <9

Just curious, but what sort of success rate do people have rewards tickets in domestic golden routes close to flying date (within 2 weeks)? Is it effectively 0 chance? Or any specific class availablepity to look for. (Both X and U).

Usually a very good chance for X if there aren't any major events happening in the destination city. Decent chance of U on weekend departures earlier than 8am too.

The mid morning flights are pretty unlikely especially without as many widebodies on domestic these days.
