QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

16th - Requested 1x J released: QF36 rejected (can't read note on what the I availability was :(), QF 38 accepted with I5.

23rd - Requested 2x J released: QF35 accepted with I5, QF37 accepted with I7. Took QF35
30th - Requested 2x J released: QF36 accepted with I5, QF38 accepted with I9. Took QF38
Are you WP or P1, been getting non-hobart team even though I call a few mins after Hobart office opens in the morning.

I called this morning, got straight through to Hobart.

Tried for a 2 x J PER - FCO in Sept 2025, no dice. Didn't really have much hope, but worth a call.
Actually, just checked. Was showing I6 this morning. Now showing I0.

We tried to find another route to EU, but almost nothing was available. I could get to Hong Kong, but not anywhere in Europe.
LHR, CDG, HEL.

QF attendant said PER>FCO is almost never released. P1 could do a manual review, but WP almost never gets that route released. Some kind of embargo or block. His words.🤷‍♂️

We can't request a release on an Air France QF4222 can we? Has to be QF Metal?
Sept `25 is looking difficult at the moment...

Uea it has to be Qantas metal. Is PER your departure city?

You must just have simply bad luck! I’ve called QF a lot over the last few weeks and always got through to Hobart, just a lowely WP. Always calling in around 3 minutes to 9am, not sure if that has to do with it.

One single time I was waiting on hold for ages and then got suspicious so I checked Flightradar which revealed bad weather conditions in both SYD and MEL. Knowing what even one of those ports in poor conditions usually does to air traffic in this country, I decided to not waste my time (or take valuable support time from people who REALLY needed it urgently that day) and called again on the day after.

very lucky to have got one J seat opened for me - LHR- SYD for late November.

The rep also said there was one F seat that was opened up the day before if I wanted, but I would have lost a nights pre paid accommodation...
Happy for you! Though I must admit, I’d happily forego one night of accommodation for a flight in First class ;)

Just called at 10:10pm AEST, got Hobart (first time getting Hobart in a long time).

Tried QF292/36/38 all with ~2 I seats in November - all declined. Was able to get First Class released on QF (A5) released from SIN-SYD though. Not my preferred option, but it is still an option.

Currently having them hold the seats for me whilst I wait for confirmation from a travelling companion. Also deciding whether I should just take BA16 J instead - it's 27600 pts cheaper but $110 more in taxes. Also J vs. F of course, although it is 777 so should be Club Suites. Oh, and I earn 56 status credits on QF P-class of course.

So it seems getting F seats released on QF2 is now possible, even to/from just Singapore!

I'd be picking QF F all day.

Interesting experience in that a recently released U request didn't have my (or Mrs excel's) qff numbers correctly attached. Bookings showed correctly on apps for both of us, so I assumed the app showing white boarding passes - instead of WP status - was a design enhancement when we flew the sectors.

Will now have to retrospectively apply for PC SCs, but thought I'd post here in case anyone else encounters the same.

QFF numbers are never normally added to Award seats by QF. You have to do it yourself IME.

Very interesting. I recall doing this in the past on AA redemptions made via qf. Have probably done so for other QF flights too but hadn't actively noticed them missing from other WP requests.
