QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

QFF numbers are never normally added to Award seats by QF. You have to do it yourself IME.
Not in my mere WP experience. All successful requests have had my FF number attached. Maybe it's different for manual review (something I have no access to).

This year I even had a denied request hang around on the app via my FF number until after the travel date it was requested for.

That’s actually not my experience. I don’t recall ever having to add it after booking - certainly not a “self service” booking.

Just my 2 cents worth if requesting for yourself your QFF number will be included. If P1 and the bot says no and a manual review is requested @Princess Fiona experience is the same as mine, i.e. seats are not approved on the spot. I normally had to call back to confirm pay fees and taxes and at this stage I would ask the agent to add QFF details. Sometimes I forgot and had to add the QFF detail at a later date.

Ah, the specific case of requested seats not including FF details wasn’t explicit in @Princess Fiona ’s post but in the context of this thread makes sense.

Otherwise, booking a CR online (or even calling up and confirmed immediately) has always had my FF details linked - in my experience.

Having never been P1 (and now unlikely to ever be…😔) I’ve not enjoyed the happy BOT computer days “Yes” experience…

@SYD I should have been more precise in my comment, if requesting for myself bot or manual review my QFF was included. If was requesting for family I used to ask the agents to add the QFF or I would do it as these were not automatically included.

In all my successful WP/P1 requests, both with and without manual intervention (after an initial rejection), the QFF number has always been added. Whether the agent does it proactively is anyone's guess.
I've never had to put the number in manually.
For the requests for family, both with and without me travelling on the same PNR, I recall giving them the number.
The only time it hasn't been added, and I haven't provided it, was for a family member without a QFF membership ;)

Requesred 2 biz seats LAX-BNE QF 16 saturday earlt april 2025.
I 9 , Biz sale fare available.
Declined.
I guess ,as well as it not being a weekday, J cabin in A 330 is relativelly small!

Trying for J on 2 April 2025 Melbourne to Jakarta. Currently not on sale so not requestable. Jakarta to Melbourne on 25th April 2025, currently on sale and requestable. Calling almost daily and always declined. The operator even says that J is wide open on both flights. Is this a popular route??

Not sure if popular but I have the same problem with a CGK-MEL flight. I9 availability. I have called multiple times over the last 6 weeks with no success. A Hobart operator advised to just keep trying as there may be a release closer to departure date if still high I availability. YMMV.

Requests for 2 seats on a weekend in September 2025

QF54 - SIN-BNE - I7 - approved
QF52 - SIN-BNE - I4 - declined
QF2 - SIN-SYD - A9 - declined

Not my preferred option but I’ll take it as there’s enough time for things to change (either through a schedule change or a further release of a seat at a later date).

I was also told twice by two different agents I could not request seats in J or PE on QF292 which seems to be incorrect based on this thread as “it was a Finnair codeshare” (which is also just wrong)

Well, MEL-CGK, will likely never be on sale as it is near full:
J9 C0 D0 I0

You might consider trying for DPS (showing I1 so unlikely) or via SYD to CGK (I3)

Also, you are requesting during the Autumn School holidays encompassing Easter 2025. (Varied state dependent dates from 29th March to 28th April inclusive).

I know the seat map is not necessarily a good guide, but that flight is currently empty - despite the fare bucket info.

I had a similar problem trying to request SYD-CGK a year or so ago. Ended up booking X, only to have the U CRs free up a few months out and the cabin was still empty....

I did the same. I did a dummy booking for 8 adults and the only reserved seats were the first row which I imagine is blocked out for higher status. So I had the same thoughts about the flight being empty.

That is rubbish as I have had 2 seats on QF291/292 released as WP over the last 12 months, with my next trip being 30/11 on QF292.

Surely these weren’t Hobart agents?

The seat release mechanism also takes into account the number of U class seats already booked. It may be that that allocation has already been reached for that particular flight.

Tried asking a Hobart or Auckland agent once more. Initial response was “I do not think we can request that as it is operated by Finnair.” I said do you mind checking that as I know someone who has done so before.

After a 5 minute hold, agent came back and was able to process the request. Unfortunately no dice for J or PE on QF292 at I5 and T5.
