QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

1 x HKG-MEL J in Jan approved instantly. No assistance fee. Very good knowledgeable service.
I class was showing 7 and dropped to 6 after booking made. This was with POS set to AU, when set to HKG it remained at 9.

Any experiences with Qantas saying no when a flight is D and I are both >0?

LAX-SYD in 14 days, J9C9D4I4, and won’t give me 2x in J... I guess they’re expecting multiple last-minute bookings?

That close on such a busy route they’d probably rather you booked J or went in the upgrade lottery

Classic Reward Seats become available nearly 12 months out. If you miss out then you need to request not too much after then or you’ll miss out on getting seats released as well (too high loads or too many extra classic reward seats already released).

Trying to get 2 seats released is always going to be harder than getting 1.

Laat week, I rang the premium desk to release 1xF Syd-Dfw and 1xJ Dfw-Syd in July 2018. I had asked for a J seat from Syd-Dfw which was showng I9 but this was denied by the computer so I asked them to try F which was +ve. Best benefit of Qf WP :)

Absolutely. I've been denied, multiple times, on a flight with J9 D9 C9 I9.

This was Platinium not P1?
I am.just amazed and thinking more trips lol
I have on my used points for upgrades not reward seats

Okay, so now we know there’s more to it... If it was my algorithm I’d include number of last minute bookings.

When I look at LAX/SFO/YVR - MEL/SYD/BNE, reasonable availability exists for T+5 in W, J, and F... But not past the 30th...

For last minute bookings QF would like you to pay for expensive J fares rather than release a reward seat when they've probably already released a lot for the flight. There have probably been Plats or above who had extra reward seats released for that flight several months ago.

If you want to book a reward seat at the last minute you may find some of QF's partner airlines have some seats though the routing can be more indirect and require more points.

It would always be a tough ask trying for a route like LAX-SYD in peak season (early Jan) for 2 seats in J. I'm not surprised they denied it.

Just booked two PE family award requests as a Plat QF96 Lax/Mel Sunday in April. Tried for J award seats (wishful thinking I know on a Sunday but one J was showing QF94 - no success), also tried Lax/Syd Lax/Bne but zero avail. Success with return flight request two F Mel/Lax QF93 Wednesday April, adult children very happy -thank you Qantas..

Quick questions here, please.

I am QF Platinum this year. First time! Yay.

Thinking of requesting Business Class tickets for 3 of us from SIN to SYD in early to mid Feb 2019. When will the redemption award be available online? Is it exactly 365 days before the actual date of flying?

Are there any limit to the times that I request for release of business award tickets per membership year?

If I got the reward redemption tickets and I changed my itinerary, is the cancellation fee 5,000 QFF points per person?

Is the QFF points for getting return business redemption the same as 2 separate redemption of one way to and from SIN?

Many thanks for your help.

353 Days is the extremity of booking. You may need to split into two and one as three is a big ask.

QF release award seat 353 days out. If I'm not mistaken, award seats start appearing at 11am AEST (just an observation from the seats I was looking into but unsure if this is consistent). 3 seats on that busy route can be a little tough to come by but give it ago anyway.

Have requested a couple times last year so don't think there is any limit. You are right on the cancellation fee and the number of points needed for one way or a return journey.

Thanks for all the answers. So, do you mean that it will be the same to redeem a return ticket at one go online compared to making two separate one way redemption on the same flights and travel class? I won't loose any money on airport tax or additional fees if I do this separately?

The points for the award will be the same but the taxes will be different if booking one-way vs return - a quick check for economy award seat to SIN will cost you ~$380 individually vs $300 return.
Fees for changes is also different, 5000 x 2 for an individual segment should you change both vs 5000 for the return redemption.
