QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

Requested as WP on 26th December MEL-SIN QF 35 in J then Y to BKK--- Granted whilst on Hold.

BKK-SYD QF24 on 6th Jan then SYD - MEL all in J Granted whilst on Hold.

A Happy Camper.

I just tried to request a seat and was told that "we are only allowed to put in a request if a sale fare is available". I asked if that was new and was told this had always been the requirement.

Poorly trained agent? Pretty sure I had requests placed (successful and not) in all sorts availability scenarios.

I think the agent is correct. There needs to be discount fare categories available for sale in whichever cabin you are requesting the seats to be released

I think my confusion was around the term "sale fare" - not necessarily tied to a booking class.

Experienced agents will probably not even try if there are only high fare buckets available, which makes sense.

Princess Fiona. May I ask dates? I’ve been trying to move my circuitous BNE-MEL-SFO-LAX J award on 26/12 to a direct and not having any luck.

Yes but the point was the reverse - it there’s no I class you’ve got Buckley’s chance.

Earlier this month, request three ADL/MEL flights. No I class avail. Friendly QF (Hobart) agent said very little chance but why not? All three flights cleared. Picked the 1425 departure, later flight was cancelled later in the evening. Go figure!

That’s excellent. I think Domestic is an entirely different beast though. International they will most likely give you an outright refusal.
If I’m requesting J/F International I usually give them a range of departure points +/- day and have looked on EF for I/A available

As has been posted since, I was referring to international J with I class.

I was just able to get two Econ seats released BNE-CBR with two weeks notice - no award seats showing on line, but R-E Deal seats available.
