QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

Re: QFF Platinum and request release of extra Classic award seats

I have had a J seat released on A330 services (HNL) - it came out of the I inventory after a request to Yield.
That's interesting. BKK must be the busiest QF route in Business.

I actually think you may be right! I've tried twice to book a paid for J and QF has been sold out.

Re: QFF Platinum and request release of extra Classic award seats

Request for 2 J awards to be released on connecting flights (AKL-ADL) failed. Might have failed because I called immediately after taking the 3 available classic awards on the flights in question. Loading was J9C9D8I4 U(3)0 and J9C9D8I6 U(3)0 on the international and domestic legs respectively. Not sure about the next step. Perhaps request a single seat to be released or wait to see if more U is given out.

If the operator told you straight away there were no seats I would wait a day or so and call again. If it went to yield management, I don't think HUACA will work.

She said she sent the request off and wait to get a no answer. This was at about 5:45pm. I assume it was the automatic process rather than queue for a real person to review.

Kinda difficult to know if requesting the business award might work on one flight and not the other, or for one person only. Or if there is an annual limit, as I've already had 2 awards released this year. Or just put the kids in Y, well make them sit in my seat in Y.

Flights aren't until October, plenty of time.

Maybe just try again in a month or so then. And ask the operator if splitting the seats/legs would help.

From my experience, it's a bit of both. The system may automatically say yes (if there is good availability) or it may need to go for review by a real person.

That's the confusing bit, they made me wait on hold and then told me the answer was no. Outside business hours I was expecting either yes, or sent for review call back tomorrow.

Oh well. At least I'm learning something.

The 'no' answer was a bit funny as well. I think they were expecting a bad response, from the tone and apologetic manner. :(

Last time I asked was late at night and I was put on the spot. I asked about MEL-SIN and it was "you need to make a decision as they all came back as available" (direct and indirect)

Re: QFF Platinum and request release of extra Classic award seats

Actually you don't. They don't like to but will hold them for 24 hours.

Wow, rainbow unicorns this morning all right.
Called the Premium desk to request a J Award seat SYD-LAX for Jan. Not only did I get the date I wanted I also got a choice of flights !!! :D

Re: QFF Platinum and request release of extra Classic award seats

Confirmed. I did stuff up. The request was sent to yield for review. Surprised to see an extra booking when I logged in this arvo. The news back was that they could accommodate the request on either an earlier flight via MEL or later via SYD. But verbally told not on the requested flights. As SWMBO and the kids are already booked on the requested flights I had to turn down the offer.

So I stuffed up by not trying to book all 5 seats together, taking the 3 available awards and requesting 2 to be released. Meaning yield had no visibility of the full travel requirement.

Now typing this all out I've released another potential stuff up. I didn't confirm the exact flights being offered. The booking in the system had my requested flights listed. Perhaps a very small chance the offer was for the listed flights.

4x J seats MEL-SYD-HNL-SYD-MEL for July, gave them a decent date window and gone back to yield management, so we will see how it goes.

Just had a SIN-MEL-CBR flight released in J for early January, really happy as it's basically the last part of a puzzle. I love it when a plan comes together.

I'm surprised you had trouble finding a seat on that route in early Jan!

The whole 2 month window from July to August not a single J seat available for a P1, so no dice.

That's pretty disappointing, as there's I2 and I3 availability on QF3 on (say) July 8 and July 12 respectively.

There is plenty of seats available no problems, guess QF don't want us to fly them at all it seems. if they had half a brain they would have released 1 or maybe 2 because they know we would have paid for the remainder, but then again im not in Yield management.

Just had another very successful request of a J seat for Jan SYD-LAX.
All done and dusted in 5 minutes.
This was changing the date of the award I booked last month.
Interestingly the Award on the day that I cancelled did not appear to go back into inventory.
