QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

HNL is a unicorn release. Well done.
The approval surprised me as the request was for my parents for travel in Oct this year and it was also the last week of school holidays. I could only see x2 D seats available across all the flights for the week they were after. In saying that they have changed their plans and yesterday the bot said no to the new dates and these are now waiting on manual intervention. Hopefully it work out for them.

I just had success this morning releasing 1x J CR seat SYD to SFO in April 2023. Expert flyer was showing 2x I class fares available. The agent (Didn't ask but I assume Hobart based) also swiftly took care of cancelling a previous backup CR booking I had made and also booked me a return CR J seat (which was visible on the website when searching) and combined into one PNR.
10 min call - all sorted! Feeling very lucky.

My parents have not been as lucky this time round HNL-SYD for their new dates, manual intervention was not successful. That being said I will have another crack in the future as they are travelling mid next year.

QF11 F for September success post manual intervention. (Showing F8 A0). I posted a few pages back about how I got F released to LAX for a flight. Just a few days later it was downgraded to a 789 (I was put in U, even with a proactive call from QF). Thought about it, noticed next day was(is?) still showing an A380 with F. Called on a whim expecting definite no. Awesme VIP team member went away for 20min and they "had a conversation" and got it approved. I honestly think it normally would have been no, but this was a bit of "make good" due to the downgrade and a generate a bit of goodwill(which it did :) ) by doing it. Obviously I am pretty happy with the result (until the next change!!)

Would someone be able to please comment on the likelihood of successfully requesting a business Classic Reward seat on QF470 MEL-SYD on 6 Aug? Just want to double-check against the advice I received from the SA call centre agent.

Thank you

J4 C3 D0 I0 so unlikely.

QF486 (7pm) has much better chances, currently J9 C9 D9 I0

Thank you. One agent said the required fare class to request the release of a seat wasn't available, while another said they could "put in a request for manual intervention", so I didn't know who was right.

I suppose technically both are right, but as sudoer posted the chances for 470 are very unlikely.. Even as P1 I would expect a big no on that.

Manual requests seem to be hit and miss in terms of if they are actually available or not.. so in a sense both responses were correct.

I'd go for the other flight as suggested.

Which is the fare class that is required? D?

Would appreciate some information about "manual intervention". The bot denied all of my requests even though Expert Flyer shows I9 on quite a few flights. I asked if a manual request could be lodged and was told that what she was doing (the bot) was the only option.
Thanks in advance

Is it likely that Qantas uses other criteria for the "bot" beyond the fare class availability that can be seen by ExpertFlyer? Does the passenger's own profile (net customer value or similar), play a part?

Are you Platinum or P1? P1's sometimes get manual intervention via the VIP team but even that from reports seems a bit hit and miss.. eg: I got some a few weeks ago, while some others not. I do not believe Platinum has ever gotten a human to look at things and make a decision. Certainly not as a rule.

That probably explains it. I'm only Platinum (and a newbie).
Thank you

WP does not get a manual review.
The confusing part is that sometimes WP may not get an answer immediately, to which they are told to call back in 24 hours.
This can be (reasonably) misconstrued as a person reviewing it within 24 hours with an answer, which in reality it is a system delay without any human input.
