QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

So I need I fare classes for the operator to refer my request to Revenue Management for approval to release seats.
You can’t get a referral to Revenue as Platinum.
But you can request release via the booking droid if there is I class Int and D class Domestic.
P1 can request if D class International and if unsuccessful have it referred to revenue management for manual review.

I have been diligently trying to get 1 x P seat released on 27NOV SIN-SYD QF2 for the past month or so. It has been F3 A3 for 6 weeks, and earlier this week that increased to F4 A4. But the bot has declined every time and some of the agents have passed along the error "loads exceeded" which apparently means there are too many classic awards booked on the flight (or possibly in F, they couldn't tell me)

I just discovered a BA15 U seat today on 28NOV so have picked that up and given up on securing QF2. I have noticed MH and BA have released quite a few U seats on KUL-SYD and SIN-SYD about a week before departure.

P1: After agent review, managed to get 1x J SYD-LAX-SYD in early June.

Requested F for the return, but yield person said no.

P1: Praise be to the analyst! 1 x U class on the following

20APR: SYD-HND (QF25) J9 C9 D4
25APR: HND-MEL (QF80) J9 C9 D0

Initial VIP Service Team crew member was super helpful but reluctant to even put the HND-MEL request through to the analyst given no D class. Lo and behold, a positive response this morning ;)

Anyone else had a bot request rejected then an email about an hour later saying call regarding your request? SA call centre could not help when I did call.

This has happened on all my recent requests. Email comes in 2-12 hours after calling, and includes PNR which you can load in MMB and see that segments haven't been confirmed. Not sure why it's just started happening... hopefully Qantas is not looking to make any enhancements..

Frequently.

In my experience this happens when the agent leaves the request in the system either after the rejection.

The call invariably ends with confirmation of the rejection and the request being deleted.

P1: success MNL - SYD October 23 - 2 x U released with I9 so no great surprise but still a nervous wait as the final leg of our OWA J trip for next year

Question, I can see in the P1 benefits that the award seat release request is limited to those travelling on the same ticket. Has anyone attempted to ask for seats to be released for a relative travelling on a separate PNR?

Not sure if it's incompetence but I've had some agents ask when constructing the booking if the request is for me or someone else, so you could try HUACA if no success. But maybe as a P1 this would be difficult as the VIP team would be more aware of the rules?

The other option is to request for yourself and relative, get approved, wait a while, then split yourself off the PNR and cancel your own award. Would cost 6k points but gets the desired outcome with minimal fuss.

Yes most definitely. All of my recent Award seat releases have been when I’m not even on the same flight.

Called in today to request 1xY CBR-MEL on 17/12, ended with 1xJ CBR-MEL 17/12 and MEL-CBR 1xY 20/12

First call - answered immediately by CPT (going by accent) - explained what I was after, request put in for 1xY seat CBR-MEL. On-hold for 3 mins, agent comes back that "the route you are requesting is operated by codeshare flights, QantasLink, so we can't request reward seats on codeshare flights, sorry". I politely replied "I have done this route quite a few times by requesting reward seats and I'm not sure how it is different this time around. Anyways thank you for trying and your time" HUCA

Second call - answered immediately by a lovely agent - explained what I was after, request put in 1xY CBr-MEL, on-hold for 5 mins, came back saying "No seats available in the date you want. Are you flexible with your date?". I was not flexible, kinda need to be MEL on 17/12 ... so I said "No, it's not flexible unfortunately, sorry, is there J seats available as reward". Goes back, another couple of minutes, come back and says "I can get 1xJ on a flight out of CBR". All good, booked and instantly reflected in the QF app.

She then proceeds, how about return, do you want me to book that as well. I was like "sure" and makes a return booking, link to the onward PNR, payment done, e-tickets to be issued within 24 hours.

Now, going by the accent, I'd have guessed this agent was based in CPT of Fiji (she had a very strong Indian accent) ... but she was from AKL !!! her name was Bathul.

I was very happy and thanked for her assistance ... survey results - 5,5,1

Update: e-ticket landed in 5 mins post call

I may have missed another thread but there has been regular transpac award availability opening up over the last wee for Christmas travel. I managed to get a standard award on QF93 a few days before xmas.

Edit I'm WP.
