Another data point for people to consider; just requested an F or J seat release for QF11 in January 2016. Got knocked back in both cabins unfortunately, although I think that was just the droid. Wasn't sure if I should ask the agent about submitting a manual review? EF showing F7 A3 J9 C9 D9 I4 W6 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G0 X3 E0.

Just called and had immediate success getting 2 x J released for BNE-SYD-SCL-SYD-BNE. Very happy with QFF :mrgreen:

Can a WP request Y award seat release on Domestic specifically QFLink ?

The flight I want is busy so the request has to be put through for manual processing.
I'm not at all hopeful but will report back.

Called again and extended the trip by 2 days ... took about 2 mins for the agent to confirm seats would be released. Both flights over the pacific are slated as a 4 class bird, have claimed 1A/K on both - hope they stick!

It's probably been asked/answered before so my apologies but what is the anecdotal evidence of success rate of WP requesting release of J or F for QF11/93/15? Would be looking at a Wednesday or Thursday next August.

I called up a few days ago and got 2 x F award seats released for two separate dates for QF94 in May. Flights are on Saturdays both ways. EF was showing F9 A9 J9 C9 D9 I9 Y9....

The very helpful Qantas agent submitted them to the droid while I was on the phone and got an answer back within a few minutes. Also got 2 x J award seats on QF73 with 9's across the business buckets.

My advice would be to check in EF for the dates that you want. If you see F9 A9 J9 C9 D9 I9 AND you're a WP, in my opinion your chances are very good.

I had one F seat on QF11 released on a Tuesday, for next Oct..

Anecdotally I have had seats released multiple times on QF11 and QF93

I actually thought there was max of 2 seats you could request. However, a couple of times I have spoken to them, they have said as many as you have points for. On most occasions, they could say from experience, how many they thought we were able to get, and a number of times suggested other routings where there was capacity (albeit for more points) such as BNE-HKG-LAX. Never got around to actually booking it, but was pleasantly surprised that it seemed to be very accessible.

I was trying to book some flights from OSL to BNE return last week (a weird routing special price on ITA) and the lady couldn't get the routing with the pricing to work and suggested paying to Hong Kong and then awards from Hong Kong to Brisbane, for January and then back to Oslo in June. She was talking about half a dozen flights each day that it was was pretty much guaranteed I could get at least two on, if not more. YMMV.

I'm WP and request them all the time, very rare to get them rejected - but I guess it all depends on the loads. Just booked one day for travel this friday.

Lucky fella. Today I grabbed 2 x F from MAD to BNE in January (QFF on EK) and rang QF to see if they would release seats in mid-late Dec to LHR or LGW. They only release QF flights and computer said no. Apparently the 'allocation' for December from SYD/MEL is already oversubscribed.

So not have to work out how to get to London before Xmas. Boo Hoo hoo - may even have to resort to the usual and just buy them. Probably have to buy EK J in the hope that EK treat their WPs in preference for upgrades. (Annoying that one can't use QF points to upgrade EK flights.)
