QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

Hi all, what fare buckets do I need to look out for when requesting seats for domestic?

SYD - LAX JAN24 I9 - 1x U Declined
LAX - MEL FEB24 I9 - 1x U Declined

Brilliant first experience requesting and booking. Two seats released in U in Jan 24, for two connecting domestic flights showing I8/D2, connecting to an economy (only) third flight which already had seats in X available.

Subject to one other booking still to be made, Mrs Excel should now finish the year on 1401SC!

Tried to get a SYD-MEL 1x U released across a few flights for travel today/tomorrow with a bit of D availability floating around, all declined. To be expected with AFLGF this weekend though...

They downgraded my syd-mel flight from A330 to a B737 tomorrow, so have reduced J availability- may be moving the capacity onto bne-mel?

If you're on the 8am departure, I'm in the same boat. Even got this SMS this morning.

Ironically I'm just transiting on the way to Hobart and doing it for the SC, but would prefer the direct flight with ORC.

The change website only offers me departures on Friday evening (presumably the hotel stay would be my problem..)

Icing on the cake is the poorly coded "no-compensation" header....

I was on the 11am, got the same sms, but I woke up 90mins after it was sent, and when I looked to change was told no longer available and I'm still on my original albeit now a lot further back than I was.

That seems particularly unlucky. Can't imagine late Feb being a peak season for travel.
I've noticed that all times everywhere is high season when I want to travel.

It used to be:
Flying to Europe/US in our summer: That's when skiing is really popular and everyone wants a white christmas.
Flying from Europe/US in our summer: Who wouldn't want to be there in summer?
Flying to Europe/US in our winter: Who wouldn't want to be there in summer?
Flying from Europe/US in our winter: Join the crowds on their summer holidays.
Flying to/from Europe/US in spring/autumn: There's sports on then don't you know and that's the start/end school holidays here/there, plus its too hot/cold here/there during summer/winter.

But now it's just:
"Pent up demand, everyone's cashed up, got leave to burn" after Covid.

Can't win.

Quick post (in case this is useful for anyone) on my first attempt at classic award seat release as a WP...
- QF1 (SYD > SIN > LHR) in late March '24... 😬
- Expert Flyer showing A8 I9 T9
- Requested one A seat release and crossed fingers last night...
- Email this morning to call back = no luck with 'A' release...
- Modified request for I instead = still no luck... 😥

Back to the drawing board (again).....
