The helpful chap on the VIP service desk suggested that I might be requesting these too soon as they've just gone on sale in the last 24-48 hours, and I should call back in a couple of days. He also said no P1 manual review available for flights to/from Japan during 26 Dec 25 - 13 Jan 26

Similar rules for Japan from late-March to early-May this year.

Best bet is to try a few weeks out with Business Saver fares available. I snared SYD-HND-SYD J return over the Christmas break just gone with 5 days notice

Probably too early would be the guess.

My HND - SYD flight yesterday (7 Jan) was a WP release in Nov 2024. I even checked EF a few days before the flight and there was still I4 and N3... (There most certainly wasn't anything besides YH in economy when I checked in Nov).

J ended up full but i suspect quite a few upgrades or last minute J purchases as there were 2 separate teenage girls in clutches after skiing accidents.
