QF's crazy booking engine!

And I thought it was just me not paying attention when I was looking for flights next January. I hope they return when I am ready to book.

I had same issues. MEL-LHR were showing availability on QF9 (over) and QF2 (back), which is what I wanted, but ended up booking QF2/QF1 (over) and QF9/QF10 combos back. Not that I mind. Get another hour to stuff about in DXB in each direction.

Not to mention a hell of a lot mroe SC's

I had the same problem trying to book HKG-SYD-MEL PE - it didn't give me the full suite of connecting flights between SYD and MEL, crucial on the return when I wanted to maximise F lounge time. Went back the next day and still only showing 2-3 options but this time had one I was happy with so I booked it. These website changes are a massive fail!

I'm still having the same problems I was a couple months ago - flights disappear when moving from the select date screen to the select fare - or the price goes up by hundreds of dollars. It makes it extremely difficult to plan.

This is the crucial thing here. Some people will wait to book their flights, or try refreshing their search a few times.
Others will just give up and go to a competitors website which works first time.

Except domestically there is only one competitor and their IT is worse.

Just been looking at flights MEL to LHR in October

First time only flights VIA Singapore on QF35 then on with Emirates to DXB then change flights to EK agin to LHR

Second time NO QF Flights available only EK and EK/QF Codeshare

hird time QF Flights combined with EK Flights (No Codeshare) and QF Only No SIN Option

Fourth time QF Flights combined with QF/ EK codeshare on EK Metal no EK Flight Numbers and no SIN Options

What the hell is going on this is just absolutely crazy !!!!!!!

Oh just tried a fifth time and got QF only and QF Plus EK/QF codes share and EK with no codeshare and no SIN Option

And just to add another variation all of the other attempts had no option to connect onto QF 1 from Sydney through. Just tried again and getting

I'm also continuing to have trouble getting the QF codeshares to come up. A search last week allowed me to choose either the EK flight of QF flight numbers - now only the EK numbers come up, which for me isn't an option.

Is it possible the codeshare "allocation" has "sold out"? There are still "Saver" fares available on the EK number.

I was looking for multi-city in Y and then figured, why not look at J (with the J sale that was on), but try as I might, I couldn't see the Economy/Business selector on my iPad when using the multi-city tool. In the past, this wasn't a problem as all fares showed up, but when I can't even look at a higher class of travel there's a problem.

I ended up looking at all flights individually, and while it was attractive, it was too much for me to consider. That said, had I liked what I saw, with the tool not working I wouldn't have been able to book it all on one ticket anyway, so that's a FAIL.

Screenshot below, when loading I can briefly see Travel Class pop up, before it disappears from being selectable.

I can sort of understand Qantas not wanting us to book MASAs, so they make it as difficult as possible.

But not letting us select normal, paid fares?????

What next, they intercept us at the gate and turn us away?

Alan, if you really don't want us to fly Qantas, you only have to ask nicely.

Difficult, no way its an enhancement like all the others, one would think a business the size of Q could get it right by now.

Very frustrating. I had to book 10 flights for the next couple of weeks and it took me almost 3 hours to do it. Every time I modified my search some flights magically vanished and the fares kept changing all the time.

I have noticed the same thing ... I booked some flights to Manila direct from BNE ... Those flights have now dissappeared and every time I look at alternatives they seem to change.

The schedule is changing for QF19/20 irrespective of the awful website/booking engine.

Agreed. QF is fortunate that people are prepared to persist to such an extent, showing loyalty to the brand that does not seem to be acknowledged or respected by the organisation.

Another crazy example from today:

~ Looking to book one Business class seat to SIN this November. For the day I wish to travel there is no direct QF35 service showing up in repeated searches on the QF booking site, only the QF8405 (EK code share) or connections via SYD.

~ A quick check on EF shows QF35 operating that day with the following availability: J9 C9 D9 I9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 G0 X9 E0

I believe the QF sale for these seats ends tomorrow. Plenty of availability bookable on SQ, with excellent choice of timings...
