QP Internet Access: Optus is an overzealous Big Brother

Whilst I agree that this is discriminatory, I would strongly advise people to consider getting commercial Virtual Private Network (VPN) providers so that they can secure what they're doing on the QP Wi-Fi and to encrypt it. It protects you and also gets around these censorship issues. You can usually get VPNs which are flexible for about $5/month - I use my commercial provider constantly - I never use public Wi-Fi (hotels, airports and cafes) without it.

Unless you have Telstra LTE 4G, it's not going to be faster. The Optus wifi is actually a very respectable speed (probably cause all they let you read is political news sites ;)).

It's actually really, really good at the moment - especially the upload speeds!

I've been able to suck down 2Mbit/sec through the Lounge Wi-Fi at times - although this of course is in off-peak periods.

Seems it hasn't been fixed as yet. Just tried to look up Gaycities here in the F Lounge to find a bar for this evening and it's blocked. Pretty poor form, but I'd say it's more an issue with Optus.

Not surprised, I've been reporting Gaycities and a few other websites for months now and they always tell me it belongs to a restricted category ("Dirty Homos" or something along those lines I suppose ).

Agree that it's Optus but Qantas could really step in and do something about it in my eyes...

Any suggestions who to contact at QF? A simple complaint will most likely just end up in the nirvana of customer complains and I think this issue is too serious for that.

Go senior, to their customer experience CEO or some such (search QF site for name). If this elicits no response, I'd be inclined to make a complaint to the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (HREOC) on the grounds of discrimination on the basis of homosexuality (there is no head of discrimination in relation to dance party mixes however ;-)

I should imagine that this would put the cat among the pigeons and sort out the problem pretty quickly
