Thanks for the comments above. IF I call Qantas to accept changes should I argue the point that I should receive free flights from CBR to MEL, or should I just accept MEL to DOH and not jeopardise the flights I already have?

I’d certainly argue the point as you have booked and paid to fly that leg. They can’t really take it off you or charge you more to undertake it. The person I spoke to was quite obliging once they realized the situation (at Qantas at least and eventually at Qatar!).

Also forgot to mention our second flight from Doha to Europe appeared to drop off our Qantas booking. However we were told it was still in the system and it was just a technical refreshing issue with the website. Once the Canberra to melbourne leg was sorted it was all fine.

Uhoh. Now the MEL-DOH-FCO legs aren't even showing!

So I phoned Qatar and they confirmed Qantas as the issuing ticket airline cancelled the flight. They said they would put a note on my file that they would be willing to release 2 award seats.

I then phoned Qantas (Cape Town) who told me Qantas can't cancel award seats from international carriers (ahhhh yes they can, and they did!) And that I had to call Qatar to take this up with them. I lost it at them and she said all she could do was leave an email to their Qatar ticketing contact for a request as there were no longer award seats available. Such a cluster f*ck and making me not want to deal with either airline again!!!

I am in exactly the same boat. Flight cancelled without warning. RAng Qantas got Philkippines call centre. Only alterantive was flights through Hong Kong and Amin?? with Royal Jordanian. Extremely frustrating.

I've logged a complaint through the QFF portal. Simply not good enough. Frustrating this is Qantas haven't refunded my points/taxes as "I haven't requested a refund yet"

The exact same thing happened to me....

Called Qantas Tues to confirm the change from CBR to MEL departure, Yesterday the flights are gone.... calls to both Qantas and Qatar told me that the flight was cancelled by Qatar on Wednesday. No warning, no notification.

My last call to Qantas was just before 7, the lady seemed like she was really trying to help, then while on hold the call dropped off at exactly 7pm. So couldn't call back. Was hoping that she would call me to continue???? but nothing....

Now I am completely frustrated, with no flights!

What are you going to do next? Surely Qantas would be inundated with customers in the same situation? The biggest problem is the finger pointing from both airline to each other.

I am not sure... I tried calling a few times this morning, but getting answers from indian accent, so hanging up. And trying again I guess every hour or so?

I'm in the same boat - have been told Qatar have cancelled the flight and a refusing to do anything about it. Not really sure what the options are as its 16 days notice and re booking will cost upwards of $18k for two people. Guess Christmas is ruined unless we can sort this mess out.

Another CBR QR QF cancellation thread-->Flight cancellation help requested: Qantas Classic Reward seat via Qatar Airways

Likley auto cancelled by Qatar when Qantas failed to reissue ticket in time after the QR-CBR change.

Surely travel insurance would cover this scenario?

As for flights to FCO. Given QF fly there, they should accommodate pax on their own metal.
