QR withholding award seats from Qantas?

Frustrating to see FIRST availability on the BA website (using Avios), but nothing on QF web - rang, and South African operator says definitely no availability visible her end either.

It's not just Qantas that has no QR availability though. I cannot see any on BA or AA.
Nor Asia Miles... well now Cathay since they have moved booking to the Cathay website

The new Cathay website is such a disappointment when it comes for looking for reward flights. In the past it showed Qatar availability about 360 days out: before other airlines including AA and BA. It meant that those of us with Asia Miles had a bit of an advantage.

The new site is complete rubbish and very bug ridden.

I have ~50k Asia Miles expiring at the end of the month, I topped this up with another 20k. Now with this new site and the vanishing of Qatar i'm struggling to find the flights I want next year. Very disapointed as Asia Miles used to offer great value, but after these points are gone I wont be using them in the future.

Hopefully the Qatar awards show up in Velocity soon and I can book from there and forget about One World

I think the hope for many of us with stashes of Velocity points is that Qatar will preference Velocity in some way — by releasing more reward seats, and/or by releasing them earlier than to Qantas.

This may be wishful thinking, but it’s not impossible either, given the somewhat bad blood between Qatar and Qantas.

Umm, what? Are you suggesting that the changes to Asia Miles are somehow correlated to Cathay leaving oneworld?

Award availability seems to be "opening-up" one day at a time. Yesterday there were award seats upto 04MAY, It's now progressed to 05MAY.

What time do they usually open up these reward seats? I'm looking at Perth to somewhere in Europe but no QR flights are showing up on those dates in economy.

So glad I nabbed J in June with them before all this happened. Sadly that's only MEL-CDG...I still have to find a way back home again in J.

OMG - lucky you.... There's nothing beyond 05MAY as of today - even when I speak with Reservations, they can't see anything.

If you’re game, there might be CX and JL options but both open before QF but bookable and can go quickly. There might be some BA options.

I'm booked in J reward seats on JL in Dec CDG-HND-SYD - do you think JL's a dicey move? :/

JL seems to have already adjusted its CDG-HND schedule for December to account for the need to avoid Russian airspace, and that flight is currently running as a daily service. HND-SYD for December should also be fairly safe.

I think you'll be fine - just keep an eye out in case of any schedule changes that require Qantas to reissue the ticket! :)
