This article contains the latest update on Qatar Airways award availability for QFF members:

A clear pattern has emerged. Qantas members now have access to QR award seats up to 249 days in advance for Economy, and 119 days in advance for Business & First Class.
Looks like this has shifted again?

Interesting, I must have slipped through the cracks, on 1 Oct 22 I was able to book (with the assistance of the P1 Team x1 QR J seat PER-xDOH-LHR for 15 Sep 23 and x2 QR J seats PER-xDOH-LHR for 16 Sep 23. They are ticketed and I can see the flights on the QR website, can select seats etc. I am wondering what may happen when I add in other sectors to the booking.

I think it is something to do with the CBR-DOH flight.

Other routes are showing premium availability as expected:

Can you book from DOH to Europe using QFF points? The QA website won’t let me put DOH As a depature.
dont believe so, only as a transit do you get to see the options

You need to do it as the second (or later) flight on a multi-city award booking to at least see the options available. I usually just chuck in a MEL-SYD or similar as the first flight.

My understanding is that QF doesn't have a Qatar sales centre/office, so they don't let you book online for flights originating there because they can't price them. I believe you can book them through the call centre but not 100% on this.

The QR Rewards flights must at least occasionally be distributed with at attempt at fairness? For example, I‘ve seen economy rewards flights from Adelaide to Doha via Melbourne but none from Melbourne to Doha that day! So in that instance it may be worth booking a separate rewards flight from MEL to ADL as well as the ADL - DOH via Melbourne separately. Ie fly from MEL - ADL then ADL - MEL - DOH. As long as you arrive in Adelaide on time because I’m not sure QA would honour the ADL-MEL-DOH booking if the MEL-ADL was delayed, even if it was with Qantas!?

I see the above cited article states, “Qatar Airways Economy reward seats are now being released to Qantas Frequent Flyer members exactly 249 days before departure.” which is consistent with my observations.

Does anyone know what time this occurs? I’ve been checking if I happen to wake up and so far have narrowed it down to between 3am and 7am ACT I think.

Midnight in the place of departure I believe

This gets more and more curious, the cost of the "direct" CBR to DOH is jacked up monsterously even on their own site, cheap to go virgin->QR from CBR to MEL then to DOH than to go direct CBR to MEL even when that includes getting Virgin to MEL and then getting ON THE SAME PLANE at MEL to DOH, what on earth?!?!?!?!

That works out to about $700 per hour to turn up to CBR airport early. Hard to beat that!

If I book RTW award flight J Class (318K points) and have a mixture of Y & J class in my booking at the time of ticketing - Then COMMENCE travel, can I change booking midway through journey?

ie. I commence my journey and complete 1 or 2 sectors, then see that J class becomes available on future sectors (that weren't there at the time of ticketing), can I ring and change from Y to J...??

I can see QR Y at the time I want to fly, but not QR J (but expect it will become available inside 119 days prior to travel date). I'm thinking, I'll book Y (bird in the hand), then hope that I can convert to J if I see them available, but would have already commenced travel.

That would be a question for the QF OWA thread.

From memory I think you can change class after commencing travel, but not certain.

hmm as of midnight rather than ticking over into the next day all DOH flights I have experimented with so far are returning errors
Was a little earlier. I had errors from ~20:30 AEST last night. Called the call centre (CPT) about 2130, and no availability on their end. I hope it just a link problem and isn't because of the food that Qantas at its OW alliance member. (Not just DOH; cant see QR ADL-AKL).

Definitely no QR visibility at all on QF

Out of interest, nothing has changed with VA ie none of their QR rewards flights have disappeared. Annoyingly, they have plenty of business class flights.
