On the positive side, tonight on Peta Credlin’s show...apparently the PM has raised 40 cases with the Qld Premier. Apparently this was the first intervention made public.

Thank you for posting the source. At first, I thought that you may have actually watched that show. 😀

Bullying is intimidation no matter who’s doing it to whom and sadly there is a lot of it going around at the moment.

I would really like a definition of bullying. Is bullying limited to male - female interactions? Is someone becoming angry and frustrated with another persons position, bullying?

Reminds me of the school bully. 🤣

I’m not defending APs border settings one iota.

However, when does a confident adult true National leader run to an “owned” reporter and prattle on onair regarding private conversations between two alleged leaders to try and gain cudos for a situation where he was incapable of negotiating an acceptable solution through his lack of skills in persuasion or at least as a minimum admits he is not held in high regard by another leader.

This is schoolyard stuff on behalf of both of them

Jury is out for me. Of course we dont know exactly what was said but expressing one's deep frustration and anger at a situation to me is not bullying.

"Bullying is an ongoing and deliberate misuse of power in relationships through repeated verbal, physical and/or social behaviour that intends to cause physical, social and/or psychological harm. It can involve an individual or a group misusing their power, or perceived power, over one or more persons who feel unable to stop it from happening."

As I said before Scomo had a right to reply to the personal attack on him by AP in the QLD Parliament. His radio interview was only after AP made the call public.
But I guess you feel the Labour Chief Minister of the ACT is in the same category as Scomo as he also made a call to AP on this issue.

Since when does a CHO provide health advise based on the economic return of an applicant. That is approaching a full on political decision, at the very least an administrative/ financial decision not a health one. IMHO the CHO should limit advise to risk factors to the health of the state's residents.

One of Tasmania's CMO's factors in advising that our borders be closed (restrictions on inward travelers) was that 'people are frightened'. When asked how he came to that conclusion, he cited social media and talk back.

But as much as I dislike the Tas Premier and the CMO policies, Premier Palaszczuk's recent behaviors have been simply appalling. A politician in election mode displaying the worst of the craft. "Queensland hospitals are for Queenslanders", letting AFL teams in (with their inevitable little wanderings), Hanks in with his $$, the awful recent non exceptions. How can anyone defend that sort of stuff?

As for boo-hoo I'm being bullied ... that's simply pathetic and shrill. The Premier will probably be re-elected, but I trust she will carry her now-rotten reputation around with her until she ultimately departs.

The ACT CM got involved because it involves a Canberra resident(s).

In jest....

It’s clearly social harm (Of the Qld Premier’s electoral chances). The PM has been badgering repeatedly on borders for months now.

I dont see that as bullying though. He hasnt threatened anyone which for me anyway, is the key. Expressing anger and disbelief and frustration is not bullying. Social harm? I'd suggest it is outlining consequences of actions. Accountability.

... to all states and territories. The states & territories can speak to their interests, the PM speaks to the national interest, especially as his health people have steadfastly argued against the need to close borders. Like lawyers, the medical lot have differing opinions and risk assessment. As I mentioned, in Tasmania they use social media and talk back.

Has the CM ACT gone onair to cry crocodile tears over his call to AP. Its a question. I don't know, haven’t been following.

QLD health doesn't have ‘000s upon ‘000s of cases to trace & does not have full hospitals or lockdowns to enforce.

Maybe someone can explain (other than pure politics) why QLD does not have the resources to somehow to risk assess and manage the necessary processes and staffing/escorts to accommodate 40 high priority allegedly legitimate compassionate border pass applications.

Even if someone was considered a risk, how long does it take to organise a same day test, and provide an escort to a hospital or funeral and back to a quaro hotel. People are waiting for more than 20 days to get a rejection to their application for an urgent visit.

(They allegedly did manage to accommodate 400 or so football hangers on and various celebs in very quick time)

I think I read that every application has to be approved personally by Dr Young. Surely she could delegate approval to someone else.

Again wrong information.

“Early on Thursday, Morrison called the Sydney radio host Ray Hadley to ratchet up political pressure on the Queensland premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk, who later accused the prime minister of trying to bully her into allowing Caisip to attend her father’s funeral.”

Apparently not

Palaszczuk made her bullying claim shortly after 10:20.

Morrison called Hadley some minutes after 10:45.
(But, in fairness, that probably qualifies as 'early' for a Guardian journalist.)
