Questions re BA16

Can anyone with experience say whether checkin for BA16 departing at 15.30 starts at 11.30am or an hour later ?

I think this thread should be named 'frustrations re BA'... just to make it more accurate!

I was denied access to the BA F Lounge at LHR T5 2 weeks ago with the explanation of 'We dont do Qantas any more. They are Emirates now. You can use the Business Lounge'.

You can imagine how complimentary of the F Lounge I was (I really don't rate it) after that explanation.

I assume you corrected them and got in? Never really understood why they're such cows at lhr...

Suffered the same fools a few weeks ago. First we were instructed to head for the CCR, then I was told the J lounge was the place to be. Ended up having to explain the OW lounge entitlements and access was granted to the Flounge, but not the spa ... the food was pukable!

Last Christmas the desk were opening at about 1:15pm for a 16:30 departure (I think the flight timings change between summer and winter) but I think you should expect them to open just 3 hours in advance.

They must have "forgotten" that BA are part of Oneworld!

Quite likely as oneworld seems to be getting more and more twoworld these days....maybe I can add more frustration after my BA trip tomorrow.

But it at the moment I really want to know what time the check in opens in Sydney so I can at least maximise my time in the nice QF first lounge before my F flight on BA.

Another question is there a decent lounge at LHR when I arrive in F to connect to an intra European flight in C? Can I at least use the F lounge as arriving passenger or will it be J lounge?

Is C - Club Europe?

If arriving in BA F and connecting to another BA flight from T5 - you can access the CCR. Keep your F BP for access, and stand your ground ... BA like to dismiss passengers even when they are fully entitled.

Nope. Didn't get in. I told her that it was "bull****", to which her reply was "what is that supposed to mean". I couldn't bother explaining so just went to J.

I got in a week later though - different dragon approved my entry.

Yes, that's what I meant. Is all on one ticket, so will keep my F BP and hope for the best....

Damn, I read somewhere else that check-in would open 4h prior in Sydney...I might try my luck tomorrow.

Hi Smart,

Did BA16 (and then onto BA12 in SIN) a few weeks ago. It opens three hours before (or did for me). Also was able to access CCR coming out of BA12 in F and onto ZAG in J/C with BA also.

Looks like Check in opens 3.5h before for BA16 in Sydney. I changed planes at SIN with a 45min turnaround which must be the quickest way to get to Europe! Only downside was that the first seats on the 747 were much older and the screen resolution was extremely poor compared to the newer planes.

I can't believe that they hand out First amenities made in China! Even in business class Malaysian manages at least to give out l'Occitane products and not some cheaply made stuff.

Looks like you missed one of BA's A380 days for SIN-LHR.

There's a reason BA's prices compare so well...

I didn't mind the amenities kit that much (got it flying Lhr to Jfk with BA). I really liked the fold up hair brush and a pen was a cute idea. Aromatherapy Associates while not being a luxury brand is used in a lot of spas. I agree I am always a bit wary of Chinese made things like that, given their patchy record. (Melamine in baby formula etc!).

However I put BA way down the list of F providers these days.

I've got this in a few days, looks like the flight has departed from gate 51 recently - all the way on the other side to the QF lounge (and I'm going to have a look at the Amex lounge briefly). If I do OLCI and am going HLO, will it be OK for them to sight my passport at the gate?
