Quickest AND Cheapest path to QFF Gold

I didn't say I would personally do it!;) I think it would take 10 days as I don't think you could do SIN-HKG-BKK-HKG-SIN in one day:shock:
I wonder what customs / immigration would think?...high chance of being suspected as being a drug runner I would say!

but one option I saw gave you about 10 hours transit in HKG...more than enough time to head (on the convenient trains) to town for a reasonable walk around , then back to the airport for a nice relaxing shower and drink in the Wing / Pier prior to your next flight!

For mine it looked like you needed to find a bed in BKK each time as well. Do they allow you to wander the airport for 10 hours or so:p:p?

I already have a plasma tv, etc... for those who are thinking...

 ;) I had to have a laugh at this :p  not at you Zwilder, but more at myself as that is a suggestion / thought that I have mentioned on on a thread or two here on AFF.

Welcome to Zwilder by the way, and good luck for your quest for SG.

BNE-MEL-NAN-SYD-MEL-BNE for $1256 in J will get you 320 SC without the need for an overnight stay in Fiji, but you need to get to BNE and also find flights which tend to be non weekend for the cheap price.
You can also get some decent options if you do an international Multi city for BNE-NAN-MEL.

like BNE-MEL-SYD-NAN-SYD-MEL for $1316 in June. It doesn't earn as many SC. But as Zwilder is in MEL is reduces the need for positioning flights.

I thought YUPP fares in the USA were less attractive now because the fares are a lot more expensive?

Hi all

I'm really upset! :( My status credits expired just short of gold and I'm stuck on (stupid) silver again!!!

I've had enough and would like some suggestions on the cheapest and quickest way to QFF gold status.

I've read some of the posts, but some seem a little old. Is back and forth SYD-AKL-SYD on LAN still the best option? Seems you need to spend a night in AKL, and time is an issue for me, (that's why I ask - quickest & cheapest).

I already have a plasma tv, etc... for those who are thinking...

Many thanks
Z

Ok; what is the reference on the plasma tv, etc. now I am just confused.

Flying SIN-HKG-BKK-HKG-SIN for 10 days I would get sick of that. :-|

How many LAX-SFO-LAX runs could someone do in a day. :?:

According to the AA timetable, you could do three returns LAX-SFO in a single day. Channeling serfty... :p

As a side note, whilst perusing the AA .pdf timetable - did you know that AA have a codeshare on the train service from CDG to Reims?

Becoming more expensive, but still some good value to be had if you are prepared to research possible flights, and think outside the square for destinations/origins.

Not sure why someone said 10 days earlier. I think they have meant 2? SIN-HKG-BKK can be done in a day, and return the next day.
They need to do the trip 5x to get to 1400 SCs and QF plat!!

Here's a quick summary of the routes mentioned above:

$3.925/SC BNE-MEL-NAN-SYD-MEL-BNE for $1256 = 320 SC
$2.80/SC BNE-BKQ-LRE-BNE for $98 = 35 SC | dep BNE 06:55, ret BNE 12:30 = 5h35, i.e. 9m34s/SC
$2.50/SC SFO-LAX-SFO for ~$300 = 120 SC
$2.42/SC HNL-LAX-JFK-BGI for ~$1840 (USD1652) = 760 SC | (11h20+7h40lo+5h30 there, ~50hr return?), ~3m56s/SC
$1.85/SC SIN-HKG-BKK-HKG-SIN for ~$520 = 280 SC | ~25h30m return?, ~5m28s/SC

I added the QANTASlink example too. See this thread.

Now, to finish figuring out how much time is needed per SC, for the above.

NB, to get Lifetime Platinum at $1.85/SC, for 14000SCs you're still looking at ~$26,000 AUD.

I'm contemplating doing that 3 times near the end of June to go Platinum.:oops:

Have a look around. There's far far better (and cheaper) ways to get WP from YUP/KUP runs (and you'll get to see some more interesting places than SFO and LAX). You wouldn't want to do 3 returns in a day. Any fog or delays at SFO or LAX and you'll be in for some pain :)

BNE-MEL-NAN-SYD-MEL-BNE can be done without a overnight in a hotel, 20SC's less.

NB, if you were solely talking about quickest, then SYD-SIN-LHR return in First, would earn 840SCs, in ~50h too.

Dep SYD 18:05, arr SYD again 20:20+2, so 50h15m = 3015m.

3015m/840SC = 3m35s/SC.

Even, SYD-LAX in first is ~13h30m oneway, and earns 270 SCs.

810m/270SC = 3m/SC.

NB, MEL-LAX is longer (in distance and time), but earns the same SCs.

Can anyone come up with a quicker way to earn SCs?

How many SCs would someone have earnt on the Concorde? And how long would it have taken to fly?

LHR-JFK (on the Concorde) gets 150SCs in First, in 3h30m, i.e. 1m24s/SC.
