Quickest AND Cheapest path to QFF Gold

I thought the CX lounges at BKK don't have showers / bathrooms? Concourse G at least... we had to go to the QP instead.
Sorry, the rooms do have showers. Also they provide a limited 'continental' breakfast.

Thw Qantas lounge does not open until 1pm.

Once you make a level like SG and you've got a month or so to go do you consider all subsequent SCs earned 'wasted'? I know they're good for LTS or LTG etc but as WP is out of reach the SCs would be better put towards the next qualifying year. Not much you can do about it though.

I think i saw this as well where it doesn't offer returns via Hong Kong. I think near there are a few price options at the top. when i was looking I had to select the second lowest price option to get hong kong in both directions.

I think it would also depend on the dates and the number of bums on seats already. I've tried other date (e.g. June) and have been able to get via HKG in both directions for an extra SGD11.00 from the base price. But on these particular dates, the only additional options at the second price level were overnight via HKG on the return, and I'm not looking to do that. To get a connection coming back the price almost doubles for those dates.

There's a great value AA KUPP fare at the moment, which I just booked for myself next month.
It's LAX-FLL (via DFW or ORD, same SC either way, but DFW is shorter).
It can be done in a day, if you leave early enough, or do it on a red eye LAX-DFW or LAX-ORD.
It nets 420SC, for $668 USD ($741 AUD, $1.76/SC).

I also had to book an LAX-MEL return. I played around with the routings, and got it booked LAX-AKL-SYD-MEL-BNE-LAX, which only cost me approximately $40 extra in taxes, but netted me an extra 40 SC's. Not bad, for about $1/SC.
It's well worth playing around with the routings a bit when you book, and just seeing what the system will let you do for approximately the same price....

Cheers,

Josh

Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread, but in SIN for a few spare days in the middle of the month, and did the dummy booking of SIN-BKK return 17/18 March. Couldn't get the full SIN-HKG-BKK-HKG-SIN, can only select the direct BKK-SIN on the return, but still 200 SC's for A$520 which should see me hit SG by the end of May with my current bookings.

My question is not about should I do it (duh!), but about hotels near BKK. I can book the Novotel for A$140, but there are some others about 10 minutes away for A$40. Every dollar counts when another interest rate rise is around the corner, so does anyone have any BKK hotel suggestions apart from the Novotel?

I just booked SIN-HKG-BKK-HKG-SIN for SG$717 (AU$568), So it has gone up a bit, but still a great deal. What SG price was it coming up for you?

SGD 644.00 as the base price, but only brings up the direct BKK-SIN on the return. Bumping up to SGD 655.00 provides BKK-HKG-SIN on the return, but requires an overnighter in HKG. Next fare levels is about SGD 1200.00. Push it forward a few days and you can get the full shabang for SGD 655.00

I would say that this thread specifically refers to the QFF program ;)

IMHO I have to disagree. It is a great fare in a premium cabin that will be awarded Good Tier credits / EQM's etc. Not to mention any other OW FF Program.

I have to agree that most of the comments in the thread are QFF related though.

Be sure to book LAX-FLL via ORD in March/April as storms in DFW will probably make a mess of your plans if you go that way (spoken from experience!)

Any recommendations for points runs out of PER (aka the forgotten city as far as QF go)?

As a fellow PER person,

I do all my international travel ex SIN. (I always buy SIN-PER-SIN QF tickets (much cheaper and better flexibility) I am using that in 2 months to take advantage of SIN-HKG-BKK-HKG-SIN CX fare.

I have convinced my Girlfriend that I am not mad and that she should enjoy travelling the "long" way in premium cabins :)

Out of interest, with any other OW FF, could by doing this SIN>HKG>BKK route get Emerald? Say with JAL or Cathay in 5 return trips?

With BA Exec Club, 160 Tier Points per return trip. 4 return trips for Silver (OWS), 10 return trips for Gold (OWE).

6610 EQP on AA, so 8 return trips for Plat (OWS), 16 return trips for EXP (OWE). Should be similar for JAL, slightly less for OWE.

For CX Asia Miles, not even worth doing the calculation.

CX Asia Miles i think 5 return trips would get you OWS.

Airline Earn Calculator says 6.6k per return trip. You don't earn much more extra miles if you fly Business on CX...

Wikipedia says 60k for Gold (OWS).

9 return trips won't get you Sapphire. 10 are needed.

Wasn't worth doing the calculation.

I think I've forced an option that allowed a 20 hour (overnight transit) also, but once the HKG transit went >24 hrs (ie stopover there) the price went sky high.

What's the best metal to use on the route?

In terms of J seat comfort - are they using the same product?

That's just fussy ;) The OP wanted to know cheapest way to QF SG and some good premium cabin fares are mentioned, but reference to any other OW FF program is really OT ;) :p
