Quickest & Cheapest way to SG

re: Quickest & Cheapest way to SG

But how do you book such a complicated routing? Via the phone or an agent? Cos no website booking engine would ever spit out such a strange (but fun!) itinerary!
FYI: im looking at getting to CUN from MIA and the best i could find was MIA-MCO-DFW-CUN. Any ideas how I can better this on AA with a YUPP fare?

These sorts of fares you'd usually need a (decent) TA to ticket for you -- AA's website certainly won't offer it.

Silly question, what's a YUP or YUPP and the other one I saw KUPP? I cant see them in the list of abbreviations

re: Quickest & Cheapest way to SG

I would join the other advice and suggest JASA.

But going to your question the basic answer is that you need to do lots of searching and advanced planning. Also get to know the earning zones and do your searching on that. From sydney for example flying to ADL direct will earn you 15 SC on. Red e deal. Fly via Mel and that goes to 20 SC, or via CBR 25 SC. So you need to look at flight with connections that cost the same as the direct flight to get better earning. However, such flights are very rare. CBRis a great starting point as most flights from there must connect.

The other key thing is to check the cost per SC. I'm averaging around $7.5/SC on direct ADL - SYD flights, purchased on sale. You need to at least match or better that.

KUPP/YUPP I don't think those are doable on a weekend from SYD.

I actually worked out how much you need to spend to achieve certain status levels for QFF. No points, just hard cash.

Sydney - Canberra $387 Bus, $109 Economy (Red E Deal)

Qualify
Silver 300: $3,045 (7 Bus, 1 Eco to SYD, 2 Eco to BNE)
Gold 700: $6,920 (17 Bus, 1 Eco to SYD, 2 Eco to BNE)
Platnium 1400: $13,660 (35 Bus, 1 Eco to SYD)

Retain
Silver 250: $2,540 (6 Bus, 2 Eco to BNE)
Gold 600: $5,920 (15 Bus, 1 Eco to SYD)
Platnium 1200: $11,600 (30 Bus)

On paper those numbers are probably correct. But they are around the $10/SC mark. In practice it can be done a lot cheaper. And if someone is flying just to get status then they need to be picking fares very carefully to do much better than $10/SC.

Hi All,

Going to Fiji in the first week of June and will be incorporating a NAN run into this trip.

I haven't booked the flights yet, if I delay booking for another month or so, would the price change much (flying J)? I know Y seats constantly change due to deals etc, does this happen as much in J? Quite a few expenses this month hence why I want to delay the booking of these flights.

thanks!!

Hi Guys,

I'm a bit of a newbie just getting into QFF for the first time.

I can't seem to replicate any of the JASA deals mentioned here, e.g. SYD - MEL in business for 32k points + 50 in cash, the amount of points I have to use is very high for any sort of business fare using Points + Pay

QFF JASA EG.jpg

I've tried to attach a screen shot, but for a $557 business fare one way, the total points I have to spend to get the fare to $50 is around 67k

Am I missing something here compared to the guys at the top of the thread?

Cheers for your help

You need to book it as an any seat award in the FF section, not as a points + pay on the normal site.

oh thanks a lot for that info markis10, so you can keep an eye out on those ASA tickets for low points value business class seats as in your example and grab those if you see them

is there any easy way to find out routes for these low points business flights are popping up?

Cheers again
