re: AKL Dinner 7 March 2015 [1 Space Available]

It seems there are a few major events in Auckland that weekend -

the Auckland Cup horse race
the Round the Bays (equivalent of the City to Surf / City to Bay)
the Pasifika Festival

No wonder accommodation is tight already!

re: AKL Dinner 7 March 2015 [1 Space Available]

Watching with interest.

Normally I am in NZ until mid February and then back again first week in April. However tend to book these flights around October/November so will keep an eye on things.

re: AKL Dinner 7 March 2015 [1 Space Available]

I rang Sofitel. As a Le Club plat, they offered me NZD595 for no water view or NZD655 for water view for Sat 7 March. Both are flexi rates. No prepay rate available. This is only approximately double the usual price

Might book the flexi rate and then cancel if something better and cheaper comes up. Trouble is I just really like that hotel and I'm having trouble convincing myself that anywhere else would be as nice.
How many can you fit into that room?

re: AKL Dinner 7 March 2015 [1 Space Available]

Gees girls - you picked a good weekend for a mileage run :p

I am not loaded like lowjhg, so if accom is particularly "difficult" that will make it hard for us working plebs like me...

re: AKL Dinner 7 March 2015 [1 Space Available]

And I thought I planned events early
Early?!?! that's not early ...

I know several people have been booking flight to Japan for April next year over the last fortnight, myself included. Got A JASA to LAX, an AA Business AwAArd to NRT and a JASA NRT- back home.

re: AKL Dinner 7 March 2015 [1 Space Available]

Well the tightness of accommodation has likely ruled me out. Not definitely, but looking doubtful. No way I'm prepared to book/commit right now. :(

re: AKL Dinner 7 March 2015 [1 Space Available]

We could go to Ikea and get flat pack bunks for everyone :p

Flights aren't a problem, I got an EK F award seat easily. And the hotels a bit further from the harbour front are only charging normal prices, it's just the ones on the harbour that are being difficult.

I'm Platinum.

Flights booked. I have booked a room with 2 queen beds at the Crowne Plaza for 6 & 7 March at NZ$192 per night. If anyone wants to share the room let me know.

To avoid snoozing and losing, I have also booked at Crowne Plaza. AAA rate. I have zero IHG status so if there's any lounging can someone please guest me?

AKL Dinner 7 March 2015

I'm still considering this - will see what Mrs QF WP thinks after ozfest. Accom won't be a problem - might have to check flight availability.
