Receive 5,000 Bonus Points[SUP]#[/SUP] & your first month cover complimentary when you purchase American Express Ezicover Insurance before the 31st March 2014.

Am wondering if there is an opportunity to "leverage" this offer in the same manner as the ANZ Onepath offer!

Sounds like you may only need to keep open for 2 paid months

#Offer only available to new American Express Ezicover Insurance Policy Holders who apply by 31 March 2014, are approved and have purchased their policy using a Card issued by American Express Australia ® - not bank issued. 5,000 Bonus Points will be awarded to the eligible Card Member's account 8-10 weeks after their first premium has been charged. Not valid in conjunction with any other promotional offer.

I don't see why not. Don't ever be underinsured :D .... but it seems like a waste of time to just take up the offer just for the points and then cancel later.

Zurich is the provider of the EziCover life insurance.

Re: Receive 5,000 Bonus Points# & your first month cover complimentary when you purch

Works out $5 for 5k points, why the hell not? I suspect it might require a bit of fluffing around to get the points if Amex's recent performance is any indication.

Sorry but I am unable to find the link to this promo? Is this in our 'offers' section when we log in?

You must be much younger than me, its about $20 for me but still I think a great deal!

What I'm now wondering, my daughter I recently added as a supplmentary cardholder (for emergencies, she doesn't normally have the card but I wasn't turning down 4K points) but is only 18 probably can get insurance really cheap and pay on the card!

Re: Receive 5,000 Bonus Points# & your first month cover complimentary when you purch

So you might have to keep it open till they post. 8-10 weeks...say 3 months of fees.

3 months of fees but the first is free so only 2 paid!

Re: Receive 5,000 Bonus Points# & your first month cover complimentary when you purch

$4.66/month for me. That is with the minimum $50,000 cover amount.

Re: Receive 5,000 Bonus Points# & your first month cover complimentary when you purch

Just applied using my DJ AMEX PLAT. $5.03 per month. Anyone know if the supplementary card will also be eligible? Or if I can use my AMEX QF discovery card for my Mrs? i.e, does the card holder also have to be the policy holder? Don't think they would let me insure myself again using another card..

Re: Receive 5,000 Bonus Points# & your first month cover complimentary when you purch

I'm tempted to do this but I'm worried it might be too difficult to cancel. From what I understand, the premiums have to be paid by direct debit and policy cancellations must be done in writing. It seems like I will have little control in getting them to action the cancellation or stopping the direct debits.

Re: Receive 5,000 Bonus Points# & your first month cover complimentary when you purch

I thought funeral insurance might be even cheaper since you can start with a really low amount of coverage ($5,000) as compared to life insurance. But it's actually more than twice as expensive to get $5k funeral insurance than $50k life insurance. I must be missing something, but that seems strange to me. Thanks for the post, I'll sign up for some life insurance :-)

Funeral insurance must be a great business (for the insurer) if this is the case :)

It states: account 8 to10 weeks after their first premium has been charged.

You may be right, or it may be after you pay the first time.

Re: Receive 5,000 Bonus Points# & your first month cover complimentary when you purch

I decided to do it - I'm pretty young so am not planning on kicking the bucket soon, but having had a loss in the family recently I know how helpful even a little life insurance can be in untangling everything.

$5.72 for me. I'm assuming because I drink and smoke the odd cigar.

Pretty cheap (for both insurance and the 5,000 pts)

Re: Receive 5,000 Bonus Points# & your first month cover complimentary when you purch

It works out to $12.15/month if I sign up today but if I think about it for a few days it increases to $13.94/month.

I think you will need to pay 3 premiums before you see the MR points so ~$42 for me. The MR points for me are valued somewhere between 1c and 2c.

Is it worth it to buy more MR points to hoard?

Re: Receive 5,000 Bonus Points# & your first month cover complimentary when you purch

$3.18/month for me - done! Figure I'll wait till the 5k posts then cancel it.

Re: Receive 5,000 Bonus Points# & your first month cover complimentary when you purch

Done. $5.03 per month. I value Amex MR at about 2c per point, so this is a bit of a no-brainer.

Re: Receive 5,000 Bonus Points# & your first month cover complimentary when you purch

4.76 so that seems OK for the points - if it takes 3 months that's only 14.28. I don't see anything preventing it being used with a second card as well
